Factory subwoofer?

Post by freeriderdave » Wed Jan 30, 2019 1:11 pm

Hi all.
I knew that the Z4 was, lets say, a little light on cabin storage. So i thought, i know, i heard about some cubby holes behind the seats for storage.
Turns out my cubby holes are full of speaker grill.
I take it it was a factory option as it looks for too OEM to be aftermarket.
Explains why the stereo sounds awesome.

Assuming we are talking about E85/E86 then yep, 10 speaker Carver system was an optional extra and has subs where others have cubby holes.

I've got the DSP and subs. Doesn't sound great though. Can it be easily upgraded?

Up grading the speakers makes a huge difference,, if you go for Audison or Eton speakers, they are both plug and play and superb speakers to boot :D
Z4 Mineral Grey, 28i MSport Auto, lots of goodies
Z4 E85 3.0, gone but now with son :D

I’ll have to read up. I can’t say the DSP EQ really does anything. I find it’s best to keep it flat and use the Tone adjust. It’s simple to access and a quick way to deal with varying source differences I.e radio compared to Aux or CD.

Are the subwoofers directly replaceable for something more punchy?

Thanks
