New to the Z4 scene
Hello folks,
Another Z4 newbie here (Ross), just picked up a 2014 35iS yesterday - so far so good! I'm a bit of a petrol head having had many 'performance' cars over the years varying from a 1993 Renault Clio 16V back in the day through to a 2017 AMG C63 Coupe that I just sold to make way for the Z4. I essentially decided I was bored of buying new, losing tonnes of money, and not being able to mod because of warranty. So after lots of umm'ing and ahhh'ing decided to go ahead with the Z4. Why? Well, Spring is just around the corner (believe it or not!) and so the hard-top convertible was a big draw, the styling is nice, and that N54 engine is perfect for me to get back into the tinkering scene for more horses. I also own a classic 1984 Mini and a Honda CBR600RR motorcycle, so the Z4 is a welcome addition to the stable!
A couple of quick snaps.
A few initial questions for you guys and gals if I may?
1. Is it normal to hear the fuel pump whirring away once you unlock the car?
2. Is it normal for the DCT to sound a bit clunky (selecting gears) at low speeds?
3. What lube can anyone recommend for rubber seals etc. to stop creaking?

Hello and welcome.
Nice car you've got for your first Z and a nice car you've just swapped out, I do like the c63.
I still bet the little Mini is a hoot to drive too, and to top it off a cbr 600 rr give you a nice garage collection.
Not sure where your from but some of us are having a breakfast meet at https://www.farmhouseinns.co.uk/pubs/de ... tree-farm/

The C63 was simply epic, an absolute animal, it would light up the tyres at 70mph if the road was damp in the slightest - and the noise! Ah I miss it!Jollyjoiner wrote: ↑Fri Dec 28, 2018 3:44 pm Nice car you've got for your first Z and a nice car you've just swapped out, I do like the c63.

The Mini is great fun, and more about the ‘built not bought’ way of motoring. There’s nothing you can’t change with just a half inch spanner and a hammer!
I’m based in Herts so the meet is a little far out for me, but have fun gents!
Another question I’ve just thought of... the nav screen - does it not go into night mode by itself when the lights come on? Seems a bit odd to have to manually do it?

Your right the Nav doesn't go into night mode, I'm not even seen t's got a night mode to do it manuallyZ4_Newbie_007 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 28, 2018 4:45 pmThe C63 was simply epic, an absolute animal, it would light up the tyres at 70mph if the road was damp in the slightest - and the noise! Well I've just been out and checked and found night mode in settings , you just have to do it manually. I've only had the car 3 monthsJollyjoiner wrote: ↑Fri Dec 28, 2018 5:04 pmYour right the Nav doesn't go into night mode, I'm not even seen t's got a night mode to do it manuallyZ4_Newbie_007 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 28, 2018 4:45 pmThe C63 was simply epic, an absolute animal, it would light up the tyres at 70mph if the road was damp in the slightest - and the noise! Yep its really annoying that its not auto, but you can programme the buttons underneath for shortcuts, just saves going through the navigation menu. I have night / day mode and dvd player zoom screen setup on them etcJollyjoiner wrote: ↑Fri Dec 28, 2018 5:04 pmYour right the Nav doesn't go into night mode, I'm not even seen t's got a night mode to do it manuallyZ4_Newbie_007 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 28, 2018 4:45 pmThe C63 was simply epic, an absolute animal, it would light up the tyres at 70mph if the road was damp in the slightest - and the noise!
