Hello from Washington, DC!

Post by Z4M » Thu Nov 22, 2018 4:40 am

Hello everyone!
I just sold my old ‘07 Z4 3.0i last week and bought an ‘06 Z4 M with 40k miles and in extraordinary condition.
I have discovered that the power door lock and hazard light buttons are not functioning. However, remote key is fine unlocking and locking the car.
Does anyone know of a good fix or is simply replacing the module the best route?
The other item is the previous owner had satellite radio installed in the car through i drive system, However, the aux Jack now will default back to the radio after five seconds and the aux option in the system disappears until I unplug the Jack in the aux port.
Any suggestions on either of these would be greatly appreciated.

This was the first version of BMW’s Idrive system in the Z4. Of course, not remotely comparable to the Idrive system now. At least this is what I’ve been told by BMW, but I could be wrong. It’s the standard system with Nav and Carver logic system though if that makes it easier :D

Sounds like it's just the button in the center console causing you issues. Try popping it out? Might find it's just a bad connection?
Enjoy the M!

Welcome to the world of Zed. :) Press the right pedal to the floor for a couple of seconds and I'm confident the electrical issues will pale into distant memory. :driving:

I had this on an old 5 series back in the 80's, it was the electric window buttons not working. I sprayed electrical cleaner into the buttons and worked them up and down, they all started to work after a while.

Here are some pictures for you - as soon as I picked her up, I had to leave town and just got her out of the shop after having some work on the rear diff done and new tires put on, along with hazard/door lock module replace that I got from ECS and new ZHP knob to replace original M knob(what a difference - wow).
Turns out the aux jack corrected itself somehow - could have been the battery reset.
I've attached a couple of pics for you all and I've also added a center strut brace and the CDV delete has already been done. What would be the wisest modification to make next for improved hp/torque? New headers?

Hopefully an M owner will be along soon with some advice on mods.
