Hello (and a detachable roof question)
Hi all,
A new owner of a 2004 3.0 BMW Z4 E85, only had it a couple weeks but loving it so far! I'm sure I will have many stupid questions over the next few weeks so thanks in advance for any help!
When I purchased the car it came with the detachable hardtop roof which I am now looking to sell. While I do like the car with the hardtop on, living by the sea is made for the roof down - even in the winter and I have zero space to store it while not attached to the car. However, while browsing the internet I stumbled upon a post on a forum asking about hardtop roof mountings and where to pick them up.
My previous (and most likely wrong) understanding was that the roof would fit onto the stock BMW Z4 but after reading that post it sounds like anyone purchasing the roof would need to also purchase and install some mountings. Is this the case, or does the stock car come with these installed? I'm wary to sell the roof to someone and for it not to actually mount on their car!
Thanks again for any help!

Hello (and a detachable roof question)
Hi and welcome OP.
As I've only had Coupes I can't give you an answer about your hardtop, but I thought you could fit one to any E85 - the covers everyone seems to be after are soft top side covers IIRC.
Hopefully someone who knows for sure will be along soon!

Hello (and a detachable roof question)
uk cars come supplied with the hardtop prep kit (99% of the time)
get an ad on the classifieds on here with plenty of pictures and details
if it's immaculate with all parts and with a trolley you can expect up to a grand for it, search past adverts for a ballpark price
And welcome to the forum of course

Hello (and a detachable roof question)
Hi there, that's a very interesting username you've chosen
Currently I am very close to securing a deal to get a Z4M or Z4MR , if I do get the roadster, I would be really interested in purchasing your hardtop. I should have a better idea of what is happening by the weekend, as I am waiting for the two respected dealers to give an answer on how much they are willing to give for my mums JCW Mini against the cars in a PX. Can't go ahead with getting my Z4 until either the Mini is sold privately or if the dealers do better than the £6250 a local dealer offered last week for it.
I'll drop you a PM letting you know if I will be able to make an offer for your hardtop sometime this weekend.

Hello (and a detachable roof question)
I've just bought a carbon black Z4M roadster, I get the car this Sat. I'm not sure if your hardtop is a close enough match?felix89 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 22, 2018 3:33 pm Hi all,

I think Felix is normally too short for most forums for a name, so I usually have to add the '79 on the end. Even though my real name is not Felix, so many of my car buddies know me and call me Felix it's rather funny!

Hello (and a detachable roof question)
Yes, it might look a little odd. This roof is dark blue - official colour is monacoblau (Colour code a35). Carbon black sounds pretty sweet!Felix79 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 22, 2018 3:36 pm I've just bought a carbon black Z4M roadster, I get the car this Sat. I'm not sure if your hardtop is a close enough match?
