Hi all,
I am looking to buy a Z4, don't know a huge amount about them but have done some research and took a test drive in an 2005 2.oiSE which I like, but it was a manual transmission and I really want an automatic.
There don't seem to be a lot of them around for my budget, which is meagre, and only extends to 6K max.
Ideally I would be looking for electrically adjusted seats as well, so I am starting my search in earnest and thought I'd post on here for any useful tips. I am a great believer in forums and look forward to getting my Z4 eventually ( retire in 2 months so hopefully before then) and joining in the discussions in due course.
So if anyone knows of something that might fit my criterea, and not too far from where I live which is Ashurst, New Forest, say up to around 75 miles, I would be grateful for any help in locating something.
Meantime, thank you for any advice.
Clive

6k will get you nice 3.0i/2.5si/2.5i or a leggy 3.0si
with the 2 litre what you make up for in running cost, you lose in engine reliability and that might cost you a lot more
keep an eye out on the classifieds on here, happy hunting

Hi and welcome to the forum, Clive.

I think if you are looking for an automatic you might be better off looking for a 6 cylinder car. The 2.2i, 2.5i and 3.0i all use the same basic engine, just in different sizes, so running costs are pretty much the same whichever you buy!

The 2.5Si and 3.0Si are facelift models and use a later generation of engine.

Good luck with your search, and don't forget the photos once you've found one. :)

Would this one be any good to you?

It's in Marlow, Bucks so might be stretching your preferred distance but looks like a good buy.

Looks very interesting thanks. I am still looking but have been tempted by an Audi TT, so I am back at researh stage, which to go for?
Sorry if that sounds dumb, but don't want to rush in and regret choice. If Z4 3ltre was top of my list, I would definately look at this one, so thanks for the "heads up" but now undecided between the two :-( So much choice out there!

I've been trying to work out what 2 door car to get for the last couple of months. I finally decided to get a Z4M after checking one out at a dealership. If I can't find a Z4M within what ever budget I am given, I will be going for the 3.0litre straight six Z4 as it's a really nice engine in it's own right. The problem with the TT is that fact it's gotten really heavy these days and it seems to lack the zing the Z4 has.

Well I've finally done it, after a lot of searching and thinking, for various reasons I have gone for a Z4 2.0i SE Sept 2008.
3 Previos keeprs and 44k on the clock. Good service history and a few optional extras.
Picked it up from an independant dealer this afternoon.....Gosh I hope I have done the right thing! :o
I daresay I will be posting more in due course :)
