Hello all.
Have been lurking for a while round here and waiting until I got my first major groom done over the weekend. Gave her the once over including the roof and am stoked how that came up – washed and proofed. Silver grey but unsure technically what the roof cover is, but looks great in grey/ Front lights still to do (oxidation). I picked it up from Auckland on the 22nd and me and a mate drove it back to CHCH over that weekend – 1000k road trip. Great chance to stretch her legs and wow, what a blast it was! She is a 2006 3.0 Si with only 35k clicks on the clock, or 21k in old money. Thoroughly enjoying being a Z4 owner and she is such a minter too. Couple of scrapes on the front skirt but nothing too major, and a few light scratches but for its age, it is an excellent example. Front indicators and rear light are colourless (if that is the right term?), has HD sat-nav, 6 CD stacker but unfortunately a mini-disc player in the head unit. Has automatic lights and wipers but daytime lights are not activated and no cruise control. All the external badges have all been modified to give a carbon fibre finish. Interior is in fantastic condition all round. Still has the complete original fist aid kit and the electric memory seats are wicked. Boot looks like it has never seen the light of day! Run flats have been changed out and alloys are original. I am still undecided on whether to put on 18s/19s or not as the ride as-is is hard already and I am not keen on it being any harder. Anyways, have very little cash left after the buy, the road trip with ferry crossing and a full all-fluids service. Pretty keen to get all the factory options turned on but doing coding fulls me with dread ATM. Am keen to get cruise control fitted. The forum looks awesome with lots of great content and passionate Z4 owners - will contribute where I can but I think in the main I will be a bit of a sponge for a while!
Cheers - Roger T

Welcome aboard. Fine example of the breed you found there? Has to be none run flats, on 18's for the better ride quality to go with the auto box. Enjoy.

Welcome! Lovely car!
Those minidisc headunits are rare! Someone on here was after one not long ago, if you wanted to replace it I'm sure there wouldn't be an issue moving it on here

Welcome to the forum, 3.0 auto
There is plenty on here about fitting cruise control. Once I fitted mine, it made the car better on long drives

Welcome to the forum Roger - that's a lovely looking Roadster.
And it looks like you have the Bi-Xenon headlights which are so much better than the standard Halogens.
The 3.0Si is such a great engine - as I'm sure you know by now!
From what I have read on here retro-fitting cruise control isn't too challenging. You just need the operating stalk which BMW still supply plus a section of wiring loom which fortunately forum Moderator "srhutch" can supply! The inside of the lower cowl on the steering column has markings to show where the stalk goes.
If you are finding the ride firm on 17s with non run-flats on an SE it's probably just as well you didn't get a Sport!
Enjoy.

Well there you go, never thought it would be rare. I know mini-discs are rare as I can't find them anywhere! It also has a mini-disc as an input for the nav Main thing I would like to do is be able to use music off my phone - MP3 or Spotify etc.

Thanks Mr Tidy. Yes, the engine is lovely and sounds great too! They are bi-xenons and overall, it seems to have been well specked at the factory. I have seen the stalks for cruise control on eBay but not sure if these are OK or not?Mr Tidy wrote: ↑Sun Oct 14, 2018 11:31 pm Welcome to the forum Roger - that's a lovely looking Roadster.

I guess the ride will take some getting used to as I have never had a previous car with 'stiff' suspension. My other car is a 2001 V6 Camray which is akin to driving a well padded couch on wheels! It will take time to gather the funds for a new set of alloys so plenty of time to think it over. I know it will look better, that's for sure!
