Z4M 224 Wheels on E85 3.0si

Post by Mab7480 » Tue Sep 04, 2018 1:08 pm

Hello all, please can somebody pass on their wisdom?

I’ve bought a 2007 57 plate 3.0si for some fun driving away from my day today Transporter T32.

I want to make a few changes. Does anyone know if the BMW 224 Alloys fitted to Z4M models can fit my car?

Many thanks

Mat

Thanks for the rapid reply. Advice - run flat tyres or not?

Don’t put runflats on. They tramlne and the ride is rubbish.

+ they wouldn't function correctly due to rim design

Runflats never fitted to "M" cars as OEM and that to me says it all

Yes - I bought a set last year off a forum member (mine is an SE so doesn't sit quite a low as the Sport)
They look great imo and perform well with Goodyear Eagle F1s :driving:

They actually look slightly better on non-M cars because they sit out and fill the arches better

Evening Grumpyowl, Zoomer and Marlon

What tyre size did you choose for your fronts and rears with the 224’s?

I’m off to get my 224’s refurbed tomorrow.

Think I’m going with 215/45’s on the front and 245/40’s on the rears.

Mine are standard size with no issues. Mr Wilks suggests M sizes ( 5% on the profile I think ) which I had on my last Z but I did suffer a little rubbing on poor roads so wouldn't do it myself again.

Id say perfection on 224s for non Ms would be 215 45 & 245 40 ( ive run this combo 2-3 times on 224s on Si Z4s) but as many on here buy the wheels with tyres from M owners the majority of time they will fit fine unless lowered . Newness of tyre tread can also be a factor if full 8mm
A 255 35 18 rear on 9j looks a little undertyred for me but will obviously work
