Z4 Coupe daily driver?

Post by Rich61 » Sun Sep 02, 2018 5:10 pm

Hi
I used my wifes 3.0 si auto coupe for a wk when she needed to use my 520 d touring as the grand kids were staying for the wk.
Travelled from Camberley to Heathrow daily and back and averaged 34 mpg with some traffic m25/m3 was actually quite surprised how good it was.
The 520 will only do do 44mpg on the same trip.
So fuel wise its a def possibility though not as comfy.

A little scrubbing, wheels and TLC. Otherwise all solid with full dealer history.

I use mine as my daily driver for around 6 years now. No issues aside from maintenance. Although since the Civic shed was written off I have gotten hold of a Golf 2.0 Fsi, which is actually very good and for knocing about is marginally better on fuel and more comfortable.

The Z4 Coupe is my only car so I have no choice
I use the car as a daily and don’t really suffer as a result as I normally do about 300-ish miles a month but I will do a quick trip to another town taking the dual carriageway to open her up a bit.
The only criticism I have is the conditions of the roads in the UK
We truly have 3rd works roads and they are getting worse by the year
To have a lovely car like the Z4 coupe only to then not experience/benefit much of it’s beauty/prowess because of the road conditions have left me somewhat bemused/bereaved

Hope the roads are better fir you in your area

So some updates in the e86 Z4...

Installed BMW Z4 M seats, Re-upholstered along with the door cards (plug and play... and shove)
Installed BMW M-Performance Stainless Steel pedal covers/rubber replacements
Installed a GROM CAR Bluetooth unit for mobile phone and media (https://gromaudio.com/)
Installed Webcam behind the Rearview Mirror... you never know when you might need one (Alibaba Special)
Installed Eibach Springs 30mm Front and 20mm Rear (E10-20-010-05-22)
Installed new Shock Absorbers (A set of Monroe's and well worth it... always happy to review later)
Installed Rear Lower Camber kit (For BMW E36/E46/E83/E85/E86/E89 Adjustable Rear Lower Camber Control Arms Kit) see here
Installed 19" CSL Reps (359M I think)
Installed Goodyear Eagle tyres (Front 235/35/19 and Rear 265/30/19)

Impressed with the suspension setup, even the wonky power steering feels a whole lot better.

Slight touch on speed humps.... at speed. Noticed that the Front bumper liners are getting knackered somewhat by this. Will have to find a solution to limit spring travel... or make certain the fender liners are in fact aligned or installed correctly. Need to replace right hand horn/hooter anyway!

Very nice Spy; looks immense! Out of (selfish) interest, are you planning to sell the wheels you've taken off? They look like 202s - if you're planning to sell you'd have at least one interested party here!
