Hi, my name is...

...Marc and I'm an alcho..., DUH! Wrong forum, different story. But hello everyone.

My partner was driving us back from Cornwall in her Polo last XMas, M5 and Torrential rain. Unbidden, a thought bubbled to the surface, "BMW built a really pretty car once, it looked somewhat similar to a Messerschmidt". Now I've only driven 2 wheels for decades.

But post holiday google time revealed my vaguely remembered car to be a Z3, and sometime later I found myself with a wad of money going to see one. Didn't like it, my skull was pushing up the soft top, bits hung down underneath and the rear suspension looked somehow lightweight. Time passes and I'm taking some German exams (for fun) and find I'm getting stressed, so to take my mind of the grammar exam I book a visit to a car dealers, for immediately afterwards, in the snow, to see a Z4. The car looked really beautiful anyway, but then the guy opened the bonnet

SOLD :o
So now I had to learn to drive 4 wheels again, it was a little interesting at the beginning, I discovered that you can hide a tarmac truck in an A pillar, though you probably have to live near a renowned accident black spot. I remember thinking WOW! I've never seen this road empty to the horizon before, just before the tarmac truck tried to introduce itself rather rudely. However, my insurance company and their bodyshop were very helpful and took on board that I DID NOT want the car written off.
While it was a rather flaky start, my appreciation of the Z4 has grown and grown. We toured Dartmoor and Cornwall recently, it is an absolutely amazing car to drive. The single track roads with grass down the middle have given me a better idea of the width of the car. But on another axis, I'm still at, the front is further away than you think and the back is miles closer. Oh, and that 0-60 thing for joining motorways :D
I'll stop preaching to the converted and maybe meet some of you at Shepshed....

Great intro. Try those same Dartmoor tracks with a little ice on them and then you'll really know how wide the car is.

Thanks, but I think that means that I'm dead  Possibly to spend eternity wandering the highways and byways of limbo, bemoaning the iniquities of pitch hauliers. That may well be true, as everyone I've meet of recent seems so damn odd! I have lost several lives to the same junction, one previous encounter saw my motorcycle's clutch cable snapping as I was half way across and idling for a gap, that was a sharp intake of breath moment. Flint Cross junction, A505
