Brakes !

Post by S6Z4 » Fri Jun 22, 2018 8:45 pm

Newbie so don’t shoot me if this questions been asked a million times before ...
I have just purchased my first z4 a 2.5 e85 great car as expected but the brakes are dismal, rather than just swap old for new standard brakes , can I swap in e46 m3 brakes , if so what do I need from a donor vehicle or does someone sell a kit ? Thinking 4/6 pot Caliper in front, 2/4pot at rear. Reason I want to go bigger is will be looking at a engine swap over the Xmas period ready for next summer
Cheers

I have a 2.5 e85 and have spent several months restoring them as such (car is a project). I have brembo pads and discs all round, replaced 3 of the 4 calipers so far with fully refurbished units, and have replaced the lines with stainless wezmoto kit. Very much improved and I’m very happy with the progress so far.

Looking at either s65 or 62 for the purist point of view but then there is also the option of a LS3 as know a few hot rod lads and they seem think may be one or two coming up soon , will be cost reliant and what’s available at the time . Hence why the bigger brakes get some serious stopping sorted , would love to be running on air too ... 🤔😉 Brembo 6pots are looking favourites if I can get them to fit ..

Brakes !

Just been offered a full set of E82 Calipers for my car does anyone know if the original 82 mounting brackets will go straight on to the Z4 or who makes/sells brackets for this conversion ? Will I also need to swap out the brake lines ( shorter/longer etc) as going swap over to stainless lines.
Thanks in advance
Dan
