New Alloys - any advice?
Hi Everyone,
after finally admitting to my other half that I'm not going to sell my E85 2003 2.5i (two failed attempts met with passive aggressive car hiding), I'm doing it up for the summer.
Part of the refurb will be to put some new wheels on it. I currently have the 16in 104s it came with, but am looking at upgrading to some 18in wheels.
Have a view on the styling - CSL-type is the direction of travel, and 've been looking at after market alloys and have been looking at Cades, Momo, Oz & Wolfrace wheels. Has anyone any experience of these?
Cheers and thanks in advance for any thoughts!
Tim.

The brands you mention are varying price and quality, some people say you notice it when driving, others say it's all the same...

I got some OEMS 111 wheels from LK Performance on my last bmw - looked great and reasonably priced.

thanks both! That's really helpful.
@Philbo909: In terms of the varying quality - are there any there I should be careful when considering? Is it simply a case of 'you get what you pay for?' or is it more complicated than that? (can you tell I've not done this before?)

Can of worms really, lightweight expensive wheels save seconds of your lap times, but do you notice it driving? Probably notTimFisherUK wrote: ↑Fri Jun 22, 2018 10:03 am thanks both! That's really helpful.

I spent big-ish on brand new bbs ch-r and I enjoy them and knowing they're real, but performance change is negligible.
Quality of the brands your considering is also fine I think(I have no experience with them though)

Style 32 are like 9kg or something? While 107/108 are around 12kg. Worth pursuing if you're set on going down the performance wheel route. They're OEM and relatively cheap. I wouldn't personally, the style and stance comes first! (plus like above, not sure you'd actually be able to differentiate).
Also for me, I'd stick with OEM (good quality) and there shouldn't be any insurance change. Furthermore they should be plentiful in supply and this is handy if you get a crack or buckle...

Lost count how many sets ive had from CM , never any issue with delivery , service or quality
Rep wheels at £500 a pop are never going to be BBS but pay a little more for Veemann or similar & to my mind they are every bit as good in both build & paint finish .

In the end got some Axxion wheels with new tyres from mytyres.com - service was brilliant tbf. Really pleased with the wheels - even if my garage managed to dent one of them.
Here's a pic of 'almost' final state... .
(All I need to do now is find out why it's misfiring...and why it dumped its coolant in a big old cloud of steam during a shakedown drive on Friday - hoping it's nothing sinister - and it'll be ready just in time for the weather to get messy)
