Hi All,
I acquired a beautiful 2 litre Z4 2006 last year and I absolutely love it (GF thinks it is twitchy). Will post some pictures of the little gorgeous beast when It comes back from the garage . Black, cloth roof with wonderful big fat wheels (better than some of the casters). Someone thought it would be a good idea to put on Schnitzer badges however they look tasteful as you will see when you get the pics .
Problems are starting to arrive now and although the garage has been awesome (all work up to now done on warranty) I am struggling with engine management light coming on and the car juddering ever so slightly. The fault code is a cat code however the garage say that the exhaust system on it is not standard (it certainly looks it).
They are talking about their being 3 parts to the cat and 2 are inexpensive and 1 of them around £1200.00. They say there isn't a cat available for this exhaust system in the country and are talking about sending the cat away to a cat cleaning company.
I am sure I can get a full stainless exhaust for £809.00 including Cat so does anyone have any idea how this seems to be so difficult for the garage to find?
What do you guys recommend is it a full new replacement or are the garage correct in saying these are rarer than rocking horse poop.
I would really appreciate your help as I am lost with engineering.
Kind regards
Andrew

Get the codes up here. Lambdas I've seen done on these, but very rarely a cat. I'd get a second opinion.
As asked where are you based?

The cats are effectively built into the exhaust manifold so not separately replaceable if you know what I mean. The 2.0l are notorious for the manifolds cracking unfortunately but they can be welded up for a lot less than a new manifold.
