hello ALSO from the west midland.. i have just bought my 3rd beema, a reasonably low mileage z4 that may have a few issues, my betting is they are very common so i an turning to you fellas to help sort me out.
roof - are all z4's equipped with an electric roof ? mine is a low spec so assumed it was manual when the guy showed me, but having bought it , i suspect i can feel resistance particularly when trying to put it up, the lock works fine, but nothing after that, and there is a pull thing in the boot that makes me suspect its got a failed electric motor, it was sorn, so highly likely methinks. :headbang: ideas please ? anybody local to burton on trent ?
If you ever think I'm off my rocker.. Just put me back in it and walk away... It's the kindest thing

Hi road warrior, having only owned Coupes I'm not too familiar with Roadster roof motors but I believe they are all electric regardless of model.

Hopefully this may help you:- viewtopic.php?f=3&t=100068&hilit=roof+motors

Mike (ducklakeview) is probably your nearest option in Lancs or maybe Number5 down Bristol way.

The crucial bit once it is working is to relocate it into the boot away from the roof drains so it doesn't get flooded!

FWIW I was in Cheshire last year and Mike cut and coded a key for me as well as replacing my corroded rear brake pipes - I was very pleased with both jobs, and the costs!
Coupes because stunning!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Had the car just over a week now and loving driving it, hoping to take it for a proper road trip this weekend as it’s bank holiday even though the weather isn’t great at the moment.

Unfortunately the car has been to the dealer already with a faulty microsensor, which is being fixed under warranty thank god. Can’t wait to get it out in the sun when the roof is fixed and the weather improves!

andyd93 wrote: Wed May 16, 2018 11:28 pm Hi all, just taken delivery of my first Z4 earlier today and I’m fully attached to it already!

I’ve been looking for a Z4 for about 6 months but nothing really jumped out at me until I saw this one. It’s a 2012 28i msport with the auto 8-speed box, has the media package and the comfort package which I really wanted. Love the deep sea blue/cream leather colour combination too, that was a bonus.

Apologies I only have one photo as it was getting dark, will post some more when the sun is back out and the top is down!

Any other members from West Midlands/south wales area?
