Hi guys - new member here (Scotland) - two weeks into my new (to me) E89. Lost count of how many cars over the last 45 years - had all sorts. Two cars ago an SLK and nearly bought a Z4 on that occasion but the Merc deal swayed me. Anyway now having bought a Z4 I can say I prefer it to the SLK - much nicer to drive. My Z4 is a very low mileage (14k) 14 plate 2.0i S Drive in D S Blue with pretty much every conceivable extra. I got it for a very good price from a BMW Dealer that I think was intending sending it to auction as the one previous owner had done very little in the way of cosmetic upkeep. It had stood on her drive for the last year with bird muck and tree sap collecting on it. In spite of this it does have full history and the balance of a five year service plan. Mechanically it’s a cracker and the interior - extended cream leather is completely unmarked. The Dealer made a pretty poor effort at the paintwork - just about looked ok. I’ve spent a good few hours on the paintwork and it’s coming up a treat - surprisingly with no lasting damage from the bird pooh. I’ve spent 8 hours today polishing the windscreen as I think it had the original wiper blades on which caused some light scratching - hard work but successful. Next job will be wheels off and brakes to bits to paint the callipers etc - all stuff I love doing.....,,

Nice Crista... you got pics?
I bought a 2014 20i, picking it up from the dealer next week; I too was tempted by the SLK, but think the Z4 looks better.

The 2litre turbo cars are growing in popularity, good point in the range for their reasonable running costs & power potential imho. Enjoy

Welcome OP - sounds like a lovely colour combination too. If only we could see it!
Out of curiosity, what did you use to polish the scratches out of the screen?

Glass polishing kit ordered of Amazon - Cerium Oxide paste with a buffing disc and a power drill. Incredibly long and hard process (left me with an aching back) but it’s worked really quite well.

I don’t have many pics yet (strange but true) but here’s three - first day back on the drive.

And here’s a couple of the interior. I’ll get a better one later with the roof down. The flash has made the door and dash leather trim look lighter but all the leather is actually the same shade. I’ve fancied a cream leather interior for years.

I’m not completely sure what was standard but I think the extras are - M Sport Adaptive Suspension - D S Blue Met - 18” Wheels?? - Cream Leather Extended Interior - Extended Through Storage - Heated Seats - Heated Steering Wheel - I Drive/Sat Nav - Ugraded Sound System - Front & Rear PDC - Folding Wing Mirrors - Automatic Dipping Wing and Rear View Mirrors - 5 Year Service Plan - I think that’s everything. It’s still on its original Run Flat Bridgestone Potenzas still with a lot of tread left. Not sure what to do about the tires yet - the ride on the run flats is far better than I expected ( no creaks or rattles )as long as I don’t hit a pot hole. I’m thinking ahead to the winter and may change the run flats for an all season non run flat (no run flat all season choices) for usability in colder conditions.
