Z4 3.0 si - Hi all!

Post by mojoint » Sun Apr 22, 2018 9:35 pm

After the recent good weather and binge watching mightycarmods, ive fallen back in love with my brilliant little roadster!

Posting here as ive read its the done thing to do, owned my car for about 3 years now, just broke 31,000 miles and will turn 10 later this year.

Spent far too long washing and waxing her up today, took some pics to share, followed by my plans and thoughts/questions for the future:

Things im planning which I know roughly what im doing:

T-cut a few scratches off the front bumper.
Reconitioning and repairing the seats which are just starting to show wear.

Things im planning to do which i need guidance on:
How the hell do i clean the dirt off my exhaust pipes?
Am looking into upgrading the sound system, but dont want to change the look of the interior at all. Is ot even possible to upgrade to a decent standard without replacing the head unit?

Then potentially for the future:
will look at replacing the hood which is also just starting to wear but im looking after it as best as i can with the autoglym hood protect kit (which I rate highly!)
Potentially replacing the front grill for the black with chrome trim version.

Any advice on what people think would be good for my car or tips in general would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

Hi and welcome to the forum OP - bonus points for photos in your 1sr post!

I cleaned my exhaust tips with Solvol Autosol - but I should have gone a bit further up. :headbang:

Sorry I cant help with stereo upgrades.

As for grilles, AFAIK for some reason only 3 litre Z4s had the silver grilles - so fitting black could possibly be looked at as a downgrade.

That definitely looks to have worked on your pipes, I’ll get some of that for sure.

Cheers

Cheers bobby, was really pleased with the clean today. Used dodo wax which is excellent and has lasted forever.

A very nice E85 find!!

I've found this to be an amazing product (here in the States) for chrome and metal cleaning-- and especially removing rust and reconditioning chrome. It came highly recommended on one of Jay Leno's Garage shows in his restorations and it works great-- https://www.amazon.com/Quickway-Brands- ... B015OOK2C2

Hi and welcome.

Where have you been for 3 years? Clearly not driving th Zed with that mileage!

Car looks great. Another vote here for Autosol metal polish.
