Hi From a Newbie

Post by Squadron Leader » Fri Apr 20, 2018 12:19 pm

Hello Z4 forum peeps. I have just agreed to buy an '04 Z4 3 litre. Gotta wait a week to collect it so thought I would introduce myself on here and ask what should I look out for when I get it? what upgrades are available (if needed) all things a newbie should know really.

Very ta,

Phil

Hi & Welcome

First thing is if it has run flat tyres, ditch them ASAP, that transforms the car, as for upgrades, some of that depends what extras the car already has on it.

Certainly having the weather for it :D

Welcome to the forum OP.

If your car is an 04 plate it will be an E85 - the Coupe didn't go on sale until 2006.

Everyone seems to recommend swapping to non-runflat tyres, if that hasn't already been done.

It's also well worth getting the roof motor moved into the boot, because where BMW put them they just get drowned by the roof drains. There are 4 or 5 forum members around the country who can do this for you for sensible money (I believe new motors cost loads).

Other than that all you need to do is enjoy it - and post some photos!
Coupes because stunning!

Hi & welcome.
'04 E85 roadster is a great value little car these days. Bought mine last year & can't fault her, such fun :driving:. I did have to have the roof motor resurrected & moved to the boot though. So much cheaper than the stealers though thanks to the help & advice available on here  .
Good luck with your new car & don't forget the photos. They are compulsory on here :D .

Wow, thanks for all the useful replies guys. The checklist by Taz is great. I will post pics up when I get it but I do know that the car is fitted with non run flats already, plus, the hood motor has been relocated to the boot.

This might be daft question, bear with me as i’m Only a newbie:roll:
Is there a hardtop available on the market for the convertible Z4?

Finally, any members on here live in Bucks, Oxon or South Northants? Wouldn’t mind a meet-up at some point this summer.
Cheers for now,

Phil

There certainly is, it was a BMW option. While they crop up for sale on here from time to time, they tend to be priced no lower than £700! Which suggests they are rather popular.
