Considering buying a Z4 - NOW BOUGHT!!!!!

Post by krish » Wed Apr 11, 2018 4:23 pm

Hi all,

Just wanted to introduce myself. Fan of forums and the wealth of information available.

So this will be my first Z4 but not my first BMW. Had a few E36's and E90's but never a Z4 and never a turbocharged BMW!

I recently drove my friends 435i and fell in love with the engine! I'm aware of the N54 problems:
1. Wastegate Rattle
2. Injectors
3. HPFP
4. Waterpump

Regardless of all these possible issues I want one!

I was originally considering a nice low miler 3.0si but I'm thinking the price of the 35i is dropping and just within my price range.

Nice to meet you all

Krish

Thanks mate.

Kind of torn between a 3.0si Coupe (Stunning lines) and the newer 35i!!!

Coupe has the iconic NA in line 6 which I love but the turbo is another animal altogether!

Anyone have any insight on the hard roof on the newer Z3 35i? Rattles? leaks? Any common issues?

I have a MR2 turbo t-bar - Pisses water in when it rain which would be a disaster in a daily!

I wanted a 3.5i with hardtop roof . They were coming out at about 11k. I would have been able to swing it if past the wife if I hadn’t spent 13 k on a Range Rover just over a year ago 😃. I’ve had 3 S type jags 3.0 and as nice as the Range is ... it just doesn’t have the grin factor . I got myself a E85 on a 05 plate 3.0 Merlot red . I’m happy with the little gem , but would be happier with what YOUR getting mate 😃 I’m only going to do about 1000 miles a year in it

Welcome to the forum OP, and good luck with the search.

If you are undecided it might be worth trying to get a drive an E86 Coupe and an E89 35i to compare.
Coupes because stunning!

Gone - Montego Blue
Gone - Ruby Black

Morning guys, thanks for all the advice and kind words.

Mr Tidy - Your right I think. I really should drive both.

Marlon - sounds about right! Already looking at what I can do to the car before I've even got one!!!!

Going to miss this car, been a fun 5 years of ownership, even if I didn't get to drive it as much as wanted to! Happy driving Krish, been a pleasure dealing with you and glad it's gone to an enthusiastic new owner! :driving:
