roof specialist SouthWest ?

Post by crazynurse » Fri Feb 16, 2018 1:54 pm

Hi everyone,

Newbie to this site and only owned my 2007 MY Z4 2.5 si for a few months but unfortunately I'm having problems with the roof ...

Worked fine of course when I bought it from local non-franchised dealer but now it will unlatch only and not retract electrically ( can of course fold it back manually from there ) .. sounds like the main motor in the rear makes a noise so something is happening and not completely dead ?

I would like to get it fixed ( without going to main dealer hopefully ) and would appreciate any pointers as to who else could offer a repair service fairly locally to me ( Devon ) .. I saw there is also a member ( Number5 ) in Bristol area offering a repair service in an older thread .. anyone have his contact details please or could member contact me please ?

Thanks vm , Steve

I've dropped a PM to Number 5 so I'm sure he'll be in contact with you soon

Might be worth making a few more posts so that you can use the PM functionality

I might be totally on the wrong track here, but is it possible that you've pulled the cable to allow the manual stowage of the roof?

Normally the light next to the roof operation buttons usually flashes red when either the retract or extend button is pressed. But if it is flashing amber/orange, I think that is an indication that the manual release has been pulled and the motor has been decoupled.

Cheers,
Sion

Hi Sion ,

Yeah i did have to do that eventually to use it manually but tried everything else before doing that .. If i put the cable back in then the roof the motor wont operate so think it must be something else ?

Thanks for info...

Bit of history on it .. it always worked fine when stationery .. One day i accidentally opened it at a low speed slowing down to stop at lights and this is when it seems to have failed... ?
