To wave or not to wave...?

Post by GrizzlyBear » Tue May 22, 2018 5:08 pm

Since getting a Z4 a couple of weeks ago I've generally given a little wave of acknowledgement to other Z drivers and had no response...apart from my other half, who thinks it's funny that we would wave just because of an appreciation for the same car. However, she's since got the bug and when we both rather enthusiastically waved to a fellow Z owner in Portishead on Sunday, there were scenes of wild celebration when we got our first wave back :D :D

I must admit, it felt more like a forced/scared gesture from the guy coming the other way as he saw the two of us charging towards him waving like a pair of nutters... but we'll take it as a victory! :yeah:

Do E85 Zed drivers wave more than E89 drivers though

I think they do myself. So based on the post above. More nutters drive E85s. :D :driving:

An old pal used to regularly give a wave / headlight flash etc to a random car - he used to laugh about how much time they would spend wondering who it was!!
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

I always wave. If they wave back it's a bonus. If they don't, they're not gonna turn around and hunt you down to found out why you waved

Maybe having an E86 doesn't help - I don't think most E85 or E89 owners realise that they are also Z4s!

To wave or not to wave...?

I generally find E89 owners less willing to wave, many seem to see their cars significantly different enough to the e85/86 so as to feel like in a different ‘club’.

I nearly always get a response from other e85’s though. Again, I think where you live has an impact. Generally speaking, the more rural the better.

Strange, isn't it - I used to have a Honda S2000 and always got waves from other S2000 drivers.

Like others have said on here, I suspect that not all Z4s are driven by enthusiasts, which is why you get the "who the f*** are you?!" stare when you wave.

Sad really, as it lifts everyone's day when you see a like-minded person who waves back :)
