New owner of 2006 Z4 3.0si roadster

I finally managed to sort out my airbag light, caused by a faulty passenger occupancy sensor. Since my Z4 is >2006, the setup is different from <2006 Z4s, so I will write some info here, in case anybody else needs it. My bmw guy spent 30 min looking under the seat, searching for a black box that connects the wiring from the car, to the seat occupancy sensor. But on >2006 Z4s(and other models), the connection for the seat mat is part of the main seat plug, so if you need to code out the seat mat, you need to disconnect it. The steps are:

1. disconnect the battery

2. disconnect the seat plug(yellow connector) from under the seat. This comes out by first pushing the right black side of the connector(using finger nail or small screwdriver)

3. remove the seat (plenty of guides around)

4. remove the female part of the connector from the seat - by simply pushing it towards the back of the seat

5. dis-assemble the plug, by pushing on the tabs in the pic

6. take out the seat mat plug from the connector - it will be a gray wire, with 4 pins (3 colored wires, see pic)

7. re-assemble the connector, re-connect to the seat, and re-install the seat.

8. For this final step you will need INPA/NCS Expert/bmw guy to reset the error, code out the seat mat, and disable the seat-belt warning on the passenger seat.
Alternatively, you can buy one of these emulators (be careful to get the >2006 version):
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-Seat-occupa ... 1438.l2649
But these are expensive, and you will need to buckle the seat belt all the time..

Remember to ask any passenger to put on their seat-belt :)

Cheers mate, however not everyone lives in the UK, I live in a magical place in Eastern Europe, called Praha, where beer is cheaper than water, and the average woman in the tram looks like the Duchess of Cambridge ;) You should visit soon before you need a visa...

Also fixed my scratched rear light cluster, see before and after below. I used 400 grit sandpaper and water first, then paint scratch remover, and finally toothpaste :)

Nice work fixing this car up. Fun times. :)

Quick update:

Water pump broke at 97000km, about 300 eur to replace.
Installed the fancy gear shifter - see pic :)
Installed the cruise control I got here on the forum, very happy with it(although a display in the dash would be useful). Installation was a complete pain, especially getting the wire through the firewall..whole thing took like 4 hours..but big satisfaction to manage it in the end.
