Lurker turned member, E85 with the odd custom

Since I’ve gone and made a post regarding roof issues I’ve had (thankfully resolved now, thanks to you guys), thought I’d introduce myself.

I have a 2.0 (yes I know, should have gone 3.0 but my budget was stretched at the time) roadster, Jan 2008, 57 plate. Bought in 2018, numerous issues ‘naturally’ over that time, issues with rocker cover/gasket, sensor issues and the big one of all a valvetronic problem that led to a nice incident on the motorway when the car suddenly wouldn’t go over 40mph. Thankfully I managed to resolve issues as low cost as possible by going with an ex-bmw guy who went independent.

Recently treated it to a new lease of life with after market wheels, couldn’t bring myself to pay double to refurb the split-rims, as it’s double labour costs everywhere due to the nature of the job. I never liked the bolts anyway, so it worked out in the end. Anyways, a lot of quality content on this forum as I’ve lurked over the years.

Welcome, must have been a bit worrying when that happened on the motorway, nice wheels. It is a shame it costs so much to refurbish the originals. Photos of the car itself?

Yea it was a big job that valvetronic issue, even though most things are sorted now the previous owner hadn’t taken care of it and I was a little blind sided, should have put it on a ramp and really dug deep into any potential issues. The wheels were a big giveaway, me and one of the 3 previous owners both have a disdain for narrow car park exits

Morning and welcome.
I'm always a bit wary of how more modern wheels will look. Straight-edged spokes can detract from the curves of the car (in my view), but I have to say those suit yours really well.

Welcome on board. Shame there was no budget to refurbish those lovely split rims. Nice choice for the replacements.

Nothing wrong with the 2.0 Z4, once these engines are sorted they run and go just great and return a really good mpg.
Mine had eccentric shaft sensor issues but once I sorted it is now perfect...
Wheels suite the car btw..

Welcome and very good choice of wheel style. Very much suit the style of the car and looks and sounds as though you’ve had your work cut out.
