signature question

Post by Marlon » Wed Sep 23, 2015 1:19 pm

I notice that some members signature pics don't link to their webhosting site (ie. photobucket etc.) and others - like mine - do.
How do you set up a signature pic that doesn't allow access to your webhosting site?

Like mine you mean.

Think it maybe because you have used Photobucket where as mine is a link to a file on a website.

I thought that, but Mr Wilks seems to come from photobucket and his - like yours - doesn't link through.
(I've already asked Mr Wilks but he's not sure how it works)

think mine links to a thread on here rather than the photobucket site - can't check as I'm at work which blocks it...

but if you just include the [ img ] link [ /img ] bits of the code photobucket gives you rather than the encased [ url ] coding, I think that should work?

eta - yep just tried it...

Yep that's done it - stripped out the [url] and just left [img] wrap
Cheers gannet :D

I thought that you could download an image as long as it was below a certain size (very small)?

@Marlon - if you want to secure other image(s) you will also need to create an open library folder in Photobucket for your public images, and make the other folders private - otherwise the link is still visible through right-clicking, and then anyone can navigate through all folders in your account.

if you have a picture in photobucket the easiest way to put it on the forum without it becoming a link is
hover cursor over desired image.
right click
click on properties
highlight and copy url address
then paste it into you post
then highlight it again and select img tag
that way it defiantly won't be a link to your bucket.

Thanks for the extra info fellas, I may use the 'open library/ private library' in photobucket (thanks markeg), or the properties 'cut and paste' (thanks Confused). No rush though, I only use photobucket for forum posts - its full of Zed pics. Just wanted the signature link disabled as thats on all my posts.

Can anyone please point me in the direction of a guide, or briefly explain to me how I can make pictures for a signature and avatar?

I'm not very good with these things, but stick my on P6 or Powerproject and I can use them eyes shut!

Click on your name (top right of screen)
Click on User Control Panel
Select Profile tab
Select Edit Signature & Edit Avatar.

You will need to create images for both and upload them to Photobucket so that you can link to them from the above control panel.
Here is a link on how to use Photobucket:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=640

Note: the avatar image has to be no bigger than a certain size (size is given in User Control Panel - Edit Avatar)

Edit: this is a useful site for resizing your images:
