You can have word filters, that should already be built in, so that URL could be added in the short term I think?

I think the option that new members cannot post until their account is verified is a good option

Yes, a potential 1 or 2 delay while it’s waiting for an admin to deal with, but it will weed out any dodgy accounts, spam etc

It's a massive inconvenience. For the admins and for genuine new members to get rid if a few spam posts.

A massive inconvenience? other forums i have used have had this implemented.

From what i've seen there are more spam based posts than new forum members joining

Just about any half decent website nowadays that incorporates a nod to security requires verification when you register. Surely it can be automated to a high degree, and so cut down on admin ?
