I think this was a language and cultural issue. Germans and many other cultures (having worked in Munich for two years) have a tendency to speak very matter of factly without the tact that we would use and I have many times been told by them "I told you so!" in a vein similar to what RobbieZ4 said, and we take that in our Anglo Saxon culture of being terse and arsy, when in fact, he simply meant "I told you so" often meaning exactly that, that I told you so - akin to a reminder. We take their apparent sternness as somewhat aggressive, when this is often not their intention.
These cultural and tonal differences do not come across in text and in the written context on this media
Now, that said, it was very petty of him, pathetic even, to remove all his content like he did.

"When someone poses a question, but makes it look like a statement of fact"
I did not post something as fact, i made a suggestion, a query, something to stir the brain cells. In that case it was something about a fourth solenoid on the pump (which my car doesn't have, so really couldn't care less, just intrigued as to why it's there), in which the reply was as you know.
All it needed was a factual response, which as it turns out he couldn't give.
I was a bit annoyed by his response, i too removed some posts. But then realised that was petty.
One being the emergency boot release after he gave negative comments about that.
I see the security risk so i removed the idea.
So i thought i will not bother contributing any more ideas.

If people talk 'face to face' some of the 'keyboard to keyboard' problems that we see in discussions often don't really exist.
intention and facial expression means a lot.

I recall an example of 'the written word' issue from an old English teacher at school.
It was a simple seven word sentence.
But if the reader put the emphasis on each of the seven words in turn, it had seven very different meanings.
