Generic BMW section

Post by RedUn » Sat Jul 28, 2018 10:03 pm

I know we have the other marques but could we also have a generic BMW section?

A lot of people on here have or have had other BMWs and it seems a shame to put them under other marques?

Just an idea

Cheers!

That sounds like a good idea.

Maybe we could have "Other BMW" and "Other Marques".

"Other BMW" may provide some useful input for Z4 owners - after all many 3 Series share engines with Z4s! :) (Both of mine did).
Coupes because stunning!

The thing the mods do most on here after toasting spammers is move topics into the correct forum (which makes browsing them and searching them much easier), so personally I wouldn't want any more.

Maybe we can introduce a rule that if you post a Fiat thread in the BMW section you get toasted also!? :fuelfire:

Or just have more mods to look after specific sections

Don’t see a point personally, there’s dedicated e46 forum etc. While it’s not the same as this one, that’s where the bulk of info is, and where people would look...

I'm not talking pure Z4 related BMWs, a lot of people have other BMWs and it's nice to talk about them and see them! If not no problem, just feel it would be a nice addition :)

Yes, I joined that and an E9* forum and have barely used either of them - this forum is a much better place in terms of the general attitude and helpfulness of the members!

My E46 325ti had plenty in common with a pre-facelift E85 and my current E91 325i has plenty in common with a facelift 2.5Si (or 23i E89), but I can understand the Mods' position too.

Still, it was a good idea RedUn.

Yeah totally agree, this community is brilliant!

It's also a great idea, but feel it would just be a bit much. We can always start a thread in the Other Marques? It's tagged as "Discussion of other cars non-Z4" so kind of already exists even if it's not BMW specific? Just create a post saying show us your other BMW's or something? :)

I'd love to see a generic "Electronics" section, but I think it's most likely too niche haha. I already made a post in The Lounge as I've been playing with a few iDrive controllers, connected to a home-made can-bus shield and an Adafruit Feather Bluefruit 32u4..... For those that just see gibberish, I'm making a "Bluetooth Mouse and Keyboard" with the iDrive

Could be of interest to others who have tablet installs and stuff. Also under this section, we could discuss can-bus sniffing and can / k-can / d-can / ibus codes and tools / sniffers etc.

Could also be used to talk about Tablet setups and other custom stuff people have done that doesn't have to be Z4 model specific.
NO LONGER OWN A Z4 SO NOT AS ACTIVE HERE ANYMORE (IF AT ALL).
