Always seems a little disappointing to see people join the forum purely to sell there car etc
maybe should be able to join the forum, but require a certain amount of posts before being able to access the sales section.
or if you want instant access, perhaps should be a forum contribution payable.
just my opinion, others may not agree.

Don't see what the problem is? Don't like a post, don't read it...

I think your missing the point.
its not freeads.
as I said just my opinion, but you join a forum as an enthusiast, not purely to offload your car etc, and never to be seen again.
it has nothing to do with not liking a post.

I quite agree, perhaps a time delay before allowing "for sale" posts, some years ago I saw a good example of this at a camera forum.Phoenixboy wrote: ↑Tue Mar 27, 2018 2:20 pm Always seems a little disappointing to see people join the forum purely to sell there car etc

I see these sort of controls on other car forums, but at the end of the day if someone (personal not trader) wants to join our forum to offer relevant (i.e. Z4) cars and parts to an audience that might be interested (i.e. us!) then I don't see a problem with it.

its a double edge sword, and I see your point.rally-chris wrote: ↑Tue Mar 27, 2018 2:54 pm I see these sort of controls on other car forums, but at the end of the day if someone (personal not trader) wants to join our forum to offer relevant (i.e. Z4) cars and parts to an audience that might be interested (i.e. us!) then I don't see a problem with it.

But doesn't seem right to just use the forum as a freead, with no contribution.
as I said, maybe a small forum contribution for the free advert, if that's going to be your only contribution to the forum.

That's only if you think there is no benefit to the regular members here. I am perfectly happy having more sellers offering their stuff, gives me more choices. Their intentions and/or contributions are irrelevant to me.Phoenixboy wrote: ↑Tue Mar 27, 2018 3:04 pm

Do you feel slighted because you have made enormous contributions to the forum, and those that have not therefore do not deserve a chance to use the options offered free here?

Well it ain't paidads either. No reason you should transpose your reasons for joining the forum onto everyone else. Just saying.Phoenixboy wrote: ↑Tue Mar 27, 2018 2:31 pmI think your missing the point.

Thanks for your replies.
Can’t beat a bit of banter when your bored at work.
Pcube, I feel no slight whatsoever.
I merely expressed an opinion.
I stand by what I said, yes I appreciate that we are offered items for sale, even though a lot are people taking advantage of a free advertising opportunity.
And they are usually the first to winge, when offered any criticism, sometimes constructive sometimes not,
But ultimately it’s a free ad on a forum, so if you don’t want comments or criticism, pay to advertise.
As for my reasons for joining the forum, you get out of it, what you put in.
I have no interest in influencing anybody with my ethics.
Many, I’m sure will have differing opinions.
That’s what forums are all about.
My opinion of what an enthusiasts forum is all about, clearly differs from yours.
That’s fine.

I do see your point 100% but...
The members that join purely to sell a car on are often only here for the duration of the sale, have a Low star rating on here so we’d know they aren’t a z4-forum regular - that doesn’t mean they aren’t an enthusiast but it raises questions as to their integrity (I am rather sceptical).
We get to admire other zeds albeit online, laugh (to ourselves) at very few shockers that have come up and if someone’s looking for a new one there’s a small chance it might be the one.
All in all personally I’d keep it as it is.

I don't see the problem. As others have said if it means that a Forum Member gets to see a car he/she is looking for, then great.

I agree with your sentiment ,should be a minimum post count before you can place an add in the forsale section.Phoenixboy wrote: ↑Tue Mar 27, 2018 2:20 pm Always seems a little disappointing to see people join the forum purely to sell there car etc
maybe should be able to join the forum, but require a certain amount of posts before being able to access the sales section.

This gives people a chance to see if we have a trader masquerading as a private enthusiast ,it wouldn't be the first time.
