Haven't seen it up for sale over the last few years - doesn't mean it hasn't been though - but Sytner have dropped the price, they were asking £17k about 6 weeks ago

Thanks for posting this. Looked at the car reg and the FB05 peaked my interest as most Sytner registered cars of that time started with FJ. Had a look at the gov web site to check car details and it was registered 01 April 2005 and as the car number is 102 and mine is number 206 and was registered before then. Checked my car on the gov site and found mine is not taxed.
Forget to tax mine recently so thanks to this post I have now a road legal car.
So Alpina experts, how can a lowered number car be registered later than a higher numbered car?

They're only registered when they're sold, Sytner pre-ordered a few batches of cars at various points during the production run but kept them as stock and didn't register them until they were sold - sometimes these were the wrong spec (non-Lux) or the 'wrong' colour and a customer would rather wait for a factory order than take a car from stock

As an example, my car is #320 and had a BMW production date of March 2005 and was UK registered in Sept 2005 whereas #295 and #296 had BMW production dates of Feb 2005 but weren't UK registered until July 2006 as they were the last two sold of a batch of std spec cars that Sytner ordered towards the end of the production run

Another reason is the change of plate - #320 is one of the last 4 RHD cars produced but #332 and #339 were registered in July 2005 (so on an 05 plate) whereas #320 was registered on 1st Sept 2005 so the previous owner obviously delayed registration to get it on a 55 plate

Had a look at it tother day, status is, in the workshop on a mini ramp , wheels off being refubed on site, front bumper off being sprayed along with a couple of more bits requiring attention, tbh , it was good to see it naked as I was able to get under it and ave a good look round,
At the mo its all covered in dust bodywork n engine bay,a far cry from thr immaculate looking pics on the web
So when they get it reassembled and detailed I'll have another look ,
But it would be nice to get it for under 15 k, if only a fiver,

TBH, as long as everything shaped up regarding service history, it drives well and is in good condition inside, in the current market £15k5 looks to be a fairly reasonable price given that you'd be getting the AUC warranty - that said, there's always a deal to be done so I'd be surprised if you couldn't squeeze them a bit....

Re the wheels - Sytner offer a wheel refurb service (I had it done a few years back on one chipped wheel), but you should check what has been done as quality was hit and miss a few years back. Ask about cracks, especially the rears, as they are susceptible especially on the inside lips - and easily painted over rather than welded. Secondly, check the refurb is a powder coat or just a respray/blow over. Finally, check that the whole wheel has been done - with my wheel, Sytner's only refurbed the front face initially.

Cheers for the advice chaps, was a bit unsure re price , but there's the benefit of a 6 mth warranty, enough time to find any hidden faults,
As to the wheels your quite right I saw them and they have been sprayed up and it did look like the outside face only ,

Surely the AUC warranty is 12 months - or are Sytner offering their own warranty for some reason? If so, have a careful look at it as it may not be as comprehensive as the AUC warranty, and dig to find out why they're not offering the AUC warranty - could be age, incomplete service history etc. - some of these could affect the value of the car

Yeh its a sytner warranty, on the service 3 were bmw, and another 2 or 3, by some garage , thats the only thing that is making me ultra cautious, hence i started this thread in the hope something may turn up , I have a copy of their warranty which I have been scrutinising,
On the + side theres 6 mnths to find any faults, as opposed to buying private,
Having said all this ive yet to drive it,
