very neat Steinhart - i agree regarding the AT would have preferred it without the second hand - i can live with the small logo in the Gaus notation.

Thanks.. It is a German brand but made in Switzerland, not sure why they do that really....

I am considering a "proper" German made watch at some point as I'm really liking the Junghans Max Bill range.. I put proper in inverted commas as even Junghans have started using swiss movements

What do we think of the theme watches. e.g. Bond Omega's, Bentley Breitling, Panerai Ferrari etc.

I've been told that they wont be as desirable in the future as the standard versions.

Quite like the look of the new Omega Aqua Terra Spectre

All depends on how many they make to be honest. Some are just churned out where as the new Bond watch is limited. Some brands and styles hold value better than others.

Unless it's a really limited piece, like that JLC its number 19 of 62 then it will hold some value but probably won't make you any more than you bought it for.

We also have a rare Paneria 40mm with a Zenith movement. It was thought to have never exsisted although there was a few floating about because they couldn't get enough movements and so the run couldn't be completed. Things like that command money. We were just glad the shop we purchased it from didn't realise which one it was a sold it for a quater of its actual value in the current market.

If you want to buy to invest then looking 2nd hand, some aren't even worn is the best bet. Looking at Pawn shops is another great place, they want to recoupe their costs and a wee bit of profit so can sell watches under market value. We've purchased a few this way and all have been at least a third of the price in the market at that time. The fact they managed to source vintage Rolex sports watches from the 70s and we picked them up for less than trade was a result.

If it's rarity or exclusivity your after you need one of theses http://www.dornbluethblog.com/Watches/0 ... RG%29.html.

Highly unlikely you'll ever see one, & very desirable on the watch market.

That is an absolute beauty! Never seen twin swan neck regulators before, not sure if there is actually a benefit to having 2 but it certainly looks very nice

Just found this thread and the picture i've uploaded isn't my exact watch but a picture off the internet. It is however, exactly the same.

I love the watch as it has been passed through my dad'suncle, my grandad and my dad. The stories attached to it are amazing both as a story but also in sentiment. It's locked away at home, i'm at work (hence no photo) but can post a picture of the actual watch if anyone wants a close up.

It's solid silver, rare and i'm honestly not sure what it's worth. Would never sell it anyway. Some of you watch guru's will have an idea I would imagine?
