As if you ever got such a bad deal as us in the UK, straight exchange puts it at $51k, so you will probably get a price of $45k or similar.

Car manufacturers still call the UK Treasure Island!

Yep, it's funny the way the exchange rate is between the pound and the dollar, yet you end up paying a lot more for the same item in the UK. I'm surprised more Brits don't save up a bunch of Pounds, exchange them to dollars and retire over here out west or down south where the cost of living is cheap and the country is beautiful (well, maybe not as beautiful as the UK, but pretty nontheless). More and More Americans are doing just that in Panama and other areas of South America where you can easily live extremely comfortably for 20 years on $100,000 US and western medicine is becoming more readily available.

...speaking of skin, that young lady in the first two pics is rather a cutie. :)

There's a car in the picture - ohh - now I see... Lovely curves - on the car I mean... not to say that... Stop - back to the topic.

Went to test the top model Z4 a week or so back - slightly too blingy interior - but then again i've b & w carbon fibre badged my sapphire black z4mr and the interior is black / uluminium only.

Lovely taut drive. The gearbox is a marvel. Not a fan of the turbo engine but it is lively once spun up - which was all the time during the test drive.

Will not run it down - fantastic car - just not as much fun (read involving to drive) by far as an ///m.

btw - down south of the equator we pay a heavy import tax - uk 51k = 62k here.

Nope.

Looks fussy out in the real world to me.

Too wide and yet high riding looking when seen from the front/front 3/4... bending the bonnet down right at the front doesn't work here somehow, side is ok, then the rear/rear 3/4 it looks like a different car to the front/sides, too tall looking from the back, no muscular appearance hinted at from the side.

In isolation any given bit isn't bad (the droopy nose is a bit iffy though, not as coherent as the E85/6 attempt), but they don't all work together as you move around the car anywhere near as nicely as the E85/6 did.

The E85 isn't perfect by any means, there are some approaching bad looking angles, namely the rear 3/4 to side view, but generally it all works as a piece.

I did think the old car is looking it's age a bit more now, but I'm still glad I have an E85. It's timeless because nothing else looked like it. The new Z4 has tried to copy the family styling too much and as such it'll date badly in my view. All the new BMW stuff will. Something about the early Bangle era where each car was a bit unique.

That said, the new Z4 beats the new 6 by miles. That is one fugly car! Makes the old 6 look really nicely composed visually now!

Interesting views there, although I did see an "orangy-red" new Z4 and a black one over the weekend and personally I think they look fantastic... be a while til I can afford one though, so will be interesting to see if I still like them as much in a year or so when they are all over the place.

I wanted to find out this a while ago and took a punt with AQA text service and this is what they sent me back... which was more than I got from the sales guy at the local dealership:

"There are a total of 6,800 2009- E89 BMW Z4 registered in the UK. There are 28,497 BMW Z4 registered in the UK in total."

that's 28,000 Z4's. there are less than 7,000 E89's in the UK.

That is low, I thought Elise was special - More Elise S2's than E89's.

Mind you seen about 20 in the last 2 days here in London :driving:
