deflectors for Zenon headlights?

Post by AlexRWD » Thu Jul 19, 2007 11:26 am

Off to Germany tomorrow, does anyone know if the standard deflectors from Halfords etc will work with Z4 Zenons, or do you need special (and doubtless overpriced) deflectors from a main stealer?

Ok, I'll check the handbook before asking next time :D

Found reference to removing wheelarch cover for headlights, which I did, you're then supposed to be able to find a switch that you flick up for driving on the continent - buggered if I could find it though :idunno:

- anyone else managed to find it?

I used the ones from Halfords a while ago - the placement positioning for a Z4 is shown in the little sheet that comes with them. They worked well.

I only found out afterwards that the lights can be changed as you describe - but like you, I couldn't find the switch!

Alex,

Did you find the magic switch?

We are off to Austria in a few weeks time so I need the switch?

It goes in the dealer this week so I might get them to show me!

Regards,

Paul

Not sure if it helps, but I found it in one of the manuals I got with the car. Now, that means I found it in the manual - but not in the car!! It's well hidden.

Nope, afraid I didn't find it - bought some of the Halfords deflectors as mentioned by David, which are quite a thick tough looking plastic, and they specifically say they are for Zenon Z4's only

did anyone find the magic switch?

I figured out you have to remove the wheel arch cover, and then the internal headlight cover (held on by the metal rod) but still couldn't find it.

Thanks!

I live in Belgium at the moment, but the car is from the UK, so as the nights draw in I have a lot of travel in the dark...

Anyway, I found the magic switch at the weekend!

If you remove the wheel arch cover, then the separate headlight cover (pretty tight) get your hand in to the OUTSIDE of the outside light - in between the two threads you can find the switch, flick it up or down.

Note that you cant actually see it, unless you happen to be a dentist and use one of those teeth mirrors they have :)

Hemmingway,

Is it the little wire switch on the outside of the bulb mount. when you push it it move up (and forward) around 5mm?

Thanks,
