2 x Cree LED 18w reversing light upgrade
Hi!
A relatively easy upgrade as I found the OEM 382 bulb pretty poor in illuminating the way when propelling back.
I found this (screenshot) on ebay for about £18 from the car-mod-shop-ltd :-
Installing was a doddle...... Took 3 minutes.
Remove the cover
Source the bulb location
Here is the comparison between bulbs
As with all LEDs they are polarity dependant
Re-fitting is just the reverse
Here is the finished article, really makes a difference in the night time on an unlit road when propelling back.

Apologies for not posting a direct link, being a newbie, I wasn't sure if direct links were allowed. No canbus errors at all either.AlanJ wrote:Tried finding these on E Bay without luck - can you post a link please
I have uploaded a couple of pictures to show how effective they are at night time. Sorry for poor quality pics, the Iphone has a mediocre camera.

Getting these 30W instead, including a set of 30W H11 front fogs at the same time.

They look superb! Have you got one fitted to show comparison? Also interested in the foglights. I installed cree HID main beams which came up with the bulb error even though they were supposed to be canbus, but I think the ones you found are a better match. You must keep me informed if you do have them / get them.powerontap wrote:http://www.ebay.com/itm/2013-Newest-30W ... 337f5a952a

I just ordered them, so I'll try and post a pic at night sometime in April.

Re: 2 x Cree LED 18w reversing light upgrade
Just did a similar upgrade, but for fogs - bear with me, it is related
Bought a couple of these cree LEDs- long term plan is to have two fogs and two reversing, but am only fitting one for the moment. A couple of weekends ago I changed the rear lights two have two clear spots (the unbalanced rears were bugging me)
The rear fog works a treat - cant really see it from this crappy iphone picture, but it is nice and red
However, was getting a canbus error when using the rear fogs. So, I purchased a 50W 6 ohm resistor (actually purchased a few, for the project I previously mentioned) from here : Note that they come in pairs.
After a bit of soldering to fit the resistor in parallel, and use of self-sealing electrical tape, the bulb holder now looks like this (kept the wires long so I could mount the resistor elsewhere if heating became an issue)
Refitted, and tried out. Bingo, no Canbus issue. I have tried the fogs on for 20 minutes and there is no discernable heating up either.

Excellent work! I feel another upgrade coming on! I have replaced all my turn indicators with LED and they give a nice clean snappy flash.
