Has it got the plastic thingy on the back? If so you don't need that, should be able to remove and then stick the glass with a decent expoxy glue or double side stickers. Should be OK.BeemerMad wrote:I have bought the whole replacement now. Is it easy to do the whole thing?Lillywhite wrote:The black backing is the heated pad. All you need is a replacement piece of glass, a tenner or so off eBay. Wingmirrorman supplied mine.

Hi yes it comes with the black plastic clip. If i use sticky pads and stick it in, will it not affect the mirror heating up?

Mine is fixed with sticky pads that were supplied with the replacement glass and it works fine. Many on this forum use expoxy glue but make sure that it's better than the c**p glue that was orginally used by BMW OEM!BeemerMad wrote: If i use sticky pads and stick it in, will it not affect the mirror heating up?

Not something I would use, some have used Araldite although I didn't want to trust glue again because the reason many mirrors fall out is because the glue gets brittle.BeemerMad wrote:Would UHU glue be suffice?

Hmmm, could you recommend some double sided sticky pads then please. Thickness more than anything cheersLillywhite wrote:Not something I would use, some have used Araldite although I didn't want to trust glue again because the reason many mirrors fall out is because the glue gets brittle.BeemerMad wrote:Would UHU glue be suffice?

Re: How do replace a wing mirro glass
My passenger side glass fell off on the way from kent to Poole... Used silicone and it seems fine now, heats up well too. Only thing is it has abviously come off before as the passenger side isn't the same as the drivers which now I've noticed, really bugs me
