Upgrade complete - a few issues

Post by sp3ctre » Sat Feb 02, 2008 12:33 pm

We have been offline for the past hour or so in order to bring the forum up to the gold release of the forum software. This was necessary for several reasons:

1. The security of the forum. Out of date forum software is a prime target for attacks by "kids with scripts!"

2. We can now add modifications to the forum without fear that the next upgrade will break them (up to a point!)

3. There were several bugs in the control panel that are now fixed

All in all the upgrade took just over an hour, which considering we had to go up 2 versions and repair several mods to the forum I thought was pretty good going.

There are bound to be some teething troubles, as there are with any new version. If you spot something not working do please PM me and I will aim to fix it as soon as I can.

Thanks,

Jim

Quick reply appears to be broken. I am looking into it as we speak.

This thread will be updated with known issues as we find them.

I have removed quick reply for the time being. I will get all the mods working on the dev forum before I install them over here. Please be patient, I hope to get them fully working by end of play tomorrow.

ok, the quick reply is still broken but we now have an option on the polls to hide the result until the end of the poll. This only works when we use the "run poll for x days" feature.

Hmmm, I still have problems with mine. Wonder if it is an IE7 problem and not so much a PhpBB problem? :scratchhead:

Just in case it's a cache issue with the javascript file, make sure you ctrl+f5 it

I was having trouble with the smilies when I used IE7. The page would open but clicking would not add the smilie.

Now I use Safari and it is just dandy, thank you!

ovrkll, I'm like you, it works very [very] intermittently with IE. Works fine with Netscape though.

Yeah, the smilie issue is to do with IE... I am keeping my eye out for workarounds but none have popped up yet. Firefox seems to be fine, as does all browsers on Mac.... in fact everything but IE :D
