Riviera Road Trip in a Zed.

Post by MalcZ4 » Wed Jul 27, 2011 1:17 pm

Just back from my trip to the South of France.

On the road up to the Col du Galabier.
Image
The top of Col du Galabier.
Image
The climb up to Col de Var.
Image
This was a new one for me - Col d'Allos - this leads down to the top end of the Var Valley
Image
While down there, we took a trip to the Gorge de Verdon.
Image
Where the gorge opens out into Lake St Croix.
Image
The famous N85 "The Route Napoleon" not far from Grasse.
Image
So many good roads - which one to take?
Image
The Col de Braus only 15 km from Nice.
Image
Yours truly - with the Esterel mountains over my left shoulder, and beyond that, St Tropez.

Nice stuff - you're also more organised than me as I've yet to sort out the photos from my own trip! I didn't make it as far south as San Remo afterall - the weather up in the Alps was good enough not to bother with the extra driving (less incentive in a 'van as it is the Z4)

Fab pics, thanks, did you get time to stop at Lac St Croix, taking a boat into the gorge for a swim and picnic is great fun. That's some of my favourite countryside in Provence

PS car looks great, love the wheels :)

You seem to be a regular in these parts.

Did you know it is now legal (since 03/11) to drink Absinthe again in France.
There is a little bar-cave in Antibes, just off the covered market, which specialises in this infamous beverage.
There is a strict limit of 3 shots per person - at 6 euros a shot, I should think that's plenty.

Yours truly gets pissed on Absinthe - it makes you mad you know!

Absinthe aah! or is it uurgh!!
Best thing about it is the advertising :)
Have tried a little, fascinating history to the stuff, crazy mad and fortunately what they sell isn't what used to be produced but game on for trying it  Well impressed! Was in Antibes back in May and didn't find that bar :o
Something to look forward to then
Should be back that way early september so may take a gamble on it. Top pics again and glad you had a great trip. I love that threads like this give people the urge to get in their zed and go exploring
