AFE Stage 2 kit for the 3.0si
I have one - i can't sense any difference. But i'm perhaps not sensitive to what 7HP could even feel like.

AFE Stage 2 kit for the 3.0si
Thanks
Performance wise - No
Eargasm wise - Yes
Thank you It's holding up quite well
@Darkangelv2 covered it pretty well
Of course I'm here And planning on staying here for 10 more
That's absolutely correctDarkangelv2 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 6:09 pm Basically he has removed the sound generator elements shown and put the small filter over the pipe that funnels sound from the engine bay into the bulkhead. It should still serve to pull more sound from directly behind the AFE into the cabin - hence removing the foam.
Fumes would be noticeable, yes. If I did not remove the foam it would be more quiet in the cabin.ph001 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 8:02 pm ....but it does omit the resonator which plays a critical role in ‘amplifying’ the engine note. I guess you just get a different characteristic with this method, although I certainly have my doubts about it’s effectiveness. You are also directly porting any fumes etc from the engine bay into the cabin (the original resonator is effectively sealed).
When taking the car to the track I can very well smell the burnt rubber and petrol from the cars in frontDarkangelv2 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 9:07 pm With the more ‘open’ design, I wouldn’t think an additional resonator is needed to ‘amplify’.
Isn’t the mini filter is there to take care of any fumes? Not there should be anything nefarious coming from under your bonnet other than the fresh air coming from in front.
No increase in performance, just nice sound from the engine.
Neither do I.Darkangelv2 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 1:20 pm I have one - i can't sense any difference. But i'm perhaps not sensitive to what 7HP could even feel like.

@StigJ
Thanks for the reply. Its quite an investment for an additional aural enhancement, We will stick with the air scoop behind the grill. (tinkering with the sound generator did nothing for the ears whatsoever)
I can sense a remap coming up.........

Definitely interested in if this actually gives the performance a slight uplift. I know they’re renowned for being difficult to reap many extra bhp/torque as they’re so well designed. But every little helps

Is this mod likely to suck hot air into the engine (rather than cooler ambient air ) ?

They come with a heat shield so no not really, possible a little warm air may get in but the scoop should be pushing most of the air in from outside
if its got tits or tyres..its trouble

I usea pipercross filter in the original air filter box. I think is the best and easier way (and cheaper)
