GPz900s were fetching mega money a few years ago. Now it seems people are struggling to give them away! Fickle this nostalgia thing.
I have learned in the last few weeks how expensive restos can be on bikes; I paid £22 for a drive sprocket nut (yes for one nut) as I mullered the old getting it off.
Nostalgia definitely comes at a price, but maybe a GPZ900 would be worth stashing away for 2 or 3 years until it becomes the latest greatest next thing!

The 'shotgun' exhausts do it for me!
Agreed! There are very few bikes that look perfect with stock pipes and that zed is certainly one of them IMHO. Enjoy.

Like it. The prices of those went mental a few years ago too! The first ever 'superbike' IIRC.

Nice.
A 17 year old Zed will be tame compared to todays litre bikes though.

I read that the Z1 was collectively considered as the first true 'superbike', but Honda released the CB750 first so could be considered to have nicked the crown. I dunno, they were all bloody dangerous with more power than engineering knowledge IMO.

I tried to get hold of a TDR last year and eventually gave up.
During the few months of my search and inquiries the prices went up by almost £2000.
Would have loved one after almost buying one in the 90s but headed down the 4 stroke route instead, but paying over £5000 for a 23 year old beater just didnt feel right.

74mph?! Please tell me how! I would love a little extra oomph from my baby. What sprocket sizes are you running?

Standard sprockets, I’ve modded the airbox but that didn’t really increase the top speed - definitely increased bottom/midrange torque though.
I’m over 17stone so not a racing whippet either

 VERY interested! I'm 6'3 and 15 stone, so anything else that gets me moving better will help.
