Anyone got Sky Glass?

Post by Scubaregs » Sun May 05, 2024 9:59 am

Cheers guys. Obviously there are far better tv's out there, however the advantages to me are no sky box, interest free credit and a reduction on my sky package for 18 months.

BB speed is not a problem as I have ridiculously good speed from EE.

A Sky Stream box is tiny - about 6" x 6" x 1". The guy on the local Sky stand said he has his held on to the back of his TV with Velcro.

You add programmes to your planner (you can have several separate ones) and then play them whenever you want. Because you don't record them locally, there is no danger of your disk filling up.

Does that give subtitles though?

Feckin expensive business this getting married again!

My advice would be to anull the marriage and go back to your batchelor lifestyle of a broken fire and just streaming free porn!

I had a 'media wall' once! I was poor so decorated the room with old copies of the Daily Express. Only downside was I had to re-do it every week as it soon got dated.
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

I can't afford to annul mate, as they say in poker I'm "pot committed"

Or should be committed.

You can’t record with sky glass, dealbreaker for me that you can only live stream
Current:

A Sky technician confirmed this during a recent visit which is a non-starter, he actually said you are far better off with your current set up of Samsung TV and Sky Q box. We seem to be seeing less and less live TV these days, probably news programme and the dreaded EastEnders for you know who. Like the concept of Slass though

Having read reviews on FB, when Sky posted an ad for Glass, we cancelled the demonstration we had booked at a local Sky store.
Seems to be lots of problems, would rather buy a new tv and keep the Sky Q box.

As per my post of 17:53 yesterday, you add programmes to your planner and watch them whenever you want. Some programmes will stop being available after a time (varies) but that is also true of Sky Q.

Today I would say that the Sky Q software is less buggy but Stream will improve over time. Also, having switched to Stream, while I could have reverted, I doubt if Sky would be very happy if I wanted to switch back to Stream in the future. Obviously I don't know their plans but I am sure that their development effort is going into Stream and Q is in maintenance mode.

Stream is dependent on your Internet connection, but isn't affected by heavy rain and thunderstorms.
