SRS light on no code

Post by p8i8p » Fri May 03, 2024 4:43 pm

hello all.

I have a 2004 2.2l z4 that has an SRS light on. I have tested it myself and sent it to a garage and we can't find a code. after looking on other forums I have seen people saying it could be a seat occupancy problem but my car already has the bypass. I as heard about people mentioning corrosion on the pyrofuse but all the connections are clean.

The garage I sent it to seems to think there was a problem with the SRS control module but they had no way to test it and as a result, aren't sure if it is or isn't.

does anyone know what might be going on?

Are they talking about the centre airbag module? SIM85?
Very odd not to get a code if it is putting a light on the dash, unless it is so dead it is not even communicating with anything any more?
If that is the case, then using INPA to view the ident details of each module will soon tell you if it can't see one.
There are a lot of airbag module failures cropping up lately so they must be coming to the end of their working lives or something.
They can also be upset by jump-starting the car.

Whereabouts are you?
Anywhere within reach of Norfolk and i'll happily help you diagnose it.
I also have a few spare modules if needed and the software required to code them to your car.

@enuff_zed
yes they where talking about the central module but it has given me codes in the past. the only other srs code I've had in the past has been a low voltage in the b-piler satellite module so it must be responding which is weird.

and unfortunately, I'm on the isle of wight so about as isolated as you can get and the only garage who might be able to help here is the bwm one but want to try everything before taking it to them.

Damn! I was down in Southampton last week as well.
I don't know of anyone else near you that could help, unless you got it to RBM in Hook.
Trouble with most garages is that they have to be jack of all trades, whereas enthusiasts can become master of one.
It would not be out of the question for me to get down your way, as my Dad still lives in Littlehampton, but timing could be the issue. Got loads of people's zeds to sort before I go on holiday for the last two weeks of May.

Just to check they scanned the correct module? Often airbag lights can be found under the B-pillar module which can be easily missed as these cars don't have a B-pillar

well thats the think i dont think there where using any specialised software and the only code I've managed to get from the airbag system is 0093E7 which is a low voltage but I feel I really need to test the car using the inpa software but I have no idea where to get it or if anyone in my area has it.
