Tips on new wheels and tyres, and avoiding divorce
19" rears, which have already been welded, have cracks. And one tyre is bulging. So I am on the hunt for ideas. Options as I see it are
1) Try to find 2 new BMW 19" rear wheels - probably ridiculously expensive, if available?
2) Buy 2 second hand BMW 19" rear wheels - potentially dodgy if already welded and repainted, and will crack again anyway in time
3) Get a full set of aftermarket 19" wheels - would want something that looks similar to the OEM wheels
4) Forget 19" wheels and get 17" or 18" wheels. Probably more robust? Again, want to retain the OEM look of the car if possible
While I am at it I think it is time to ditch the runflats too. So any suggestions on good wheel/tyre combos welcome.
All of the above has to happen at a cost that doesn't require a remortgage and also keeps me out of the divorce courts. And believe me, that last one is tricky!
Guys, give me some good news as today has been sh*t!

Recently swapped out a set of OEM 19s due to a cracked rear. Found some 666M reps which I think look cracking. Tyres still had plenty of life so just swapped over. All in for less than £700.

They look great! I looked at 666m briefly but 20" is too big, 19" replicas are perfect.

Those do look amazing, but I wanted to keep as close to the original look as possible if I can (and can afford to).

Hopefully others may have betters suggestions, but these were the closest looking to my original 326s I could find when I was trying to go down that route too. Thought once they've got a BMW centre cap they weren't a million miles off..Blurredman wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 4:25 pm Those do look amazing, but I wanted to keep as close to the original look as possible if I can (and can afford to).

Only 3 cracks ?..I’ve seen one with 12
326M is a tough act to follow on a budget..
If you’re patient you can pick up 326Ms at reasonable prices £300-£500 but you’d be better depending on what the others are like biting the bullet..moving to 18” with new non runflats is the most secure route to cost effective wheel/tyre combos..

We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

I would look at BM Autosport website. Veeman do some nice looking wheels which aren't stupid money and have a good reputation on here.
BM also sell a lot of cheap 'Chinese' wheels under various names, cos the Chinese couldn't care less what people brand them as.
If you trawl through eBay for used replacements, they are either shagged and expensive, or refurbed and bloody expensive.
I bought a set of 19" 'Chinese' BMW replica wheels last year for £600 delivered. They were not very good quality and the finish wasn't great. It's when you have tyres fitted and they get balanced that you can tell they are cheap rubbish, as they need lots of weights to get them balanced. Apparently it's due to poor casting which leave pockets in the alloy. I sold the car soon after so don't know how well they faired TBH, but I would doubt they are all still in one piece.

All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

Those don't look half bad. My car is grey, so the gun-metal finish would work too.z4lincs wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 4:31 pmHopefully others may have betters suggestions, but these were the closest looking to my original 326s I could find when I was trying to go down that route too. Something like these would be a compromise on price and similar BMW style.

A set of lightly used 437m wheels off ebay would be my suggestion. Similar style, genuine BMW, lighter, stronger and around £1k for a set, sometimes less.

Actually I know where there are set of 437Ms for sale. They are forged aswell. They are perfect and with virtually new PS5 tyres. He does want £1400 for them though. Tyres would be nearly a grand, on those, though.
I can post a link the ad if of interest (on another BM forum).

ditching runflats will help hugely with cracked rims. BMW had a terrible idea pairing 19" wheels with runflat tyres, completely unsuitable for UK roads.
personally, if you're ok with dropping to 18s, i'd go for these, with a set of still very decent, but wallet friendly non run flat kumho PS71s.
