2.5i Auto - Titan Silver - £2850

Post by enuff_zed » Thu Apr 11, 2024 1:53 pm

I picked up this car locally from an American who was posted back to the States. Consequently I got it for a decent price and having fettled it I thought I would offer it up on here at what you all hopefully will think is still a decent price in these cash-restricted times.
Anyone old enough to have watched the old Saturday morning westerns etc. would be amused to hear the previous owner was Casey Jones. The car pulls like a train! :D

The MOT runs until 02 August 24 and if you want to check on the DVLA site you will see the list of advisories. All have been addressed.

Current mileage is just over 108k (Just completed running in  )

NB. Service history photos added further down the thread.

Please note this is an automatic. The Sport button on this is a real Jekyll and Hyde switch!

Just get the bad points out of the way first: the wheels need refurbishing, there is only one key, and there are a few marks on the paintwork: commensurate with age, as they say.

Work done:

Broken third brake light replaced
DISA valve removed and inspected - in good condition, looks like a genuine replacement one
Front and rear shocks, top mounts, bump stops, brake discs and brake pads replaced
Drain bungs removed and pipes cleared
Replaced petrol flap as old one had lacquer lifting
New air filter (Mann)
Replaced rusty boot rams
Replaced chipped drivers door mirror
Removed headlights, dried out, resealed, polished lenses, refitted
Fitted new drivers door handle cable - found there was no membrane at all, so fitted a new one.
Relocated roof motor to boot - needed a replacement motor
Checked live data with engine running to prove vanos system working correctly
Replaced rocker cover gaskets
Seats removed, cleaned, recoloured, refitted
New pollen filter
Scuttle panel removed, debris removed and drains cleared
Oil and filter changed, including engine flush
Aircon checked and working
Washer bottle removed, cleaned, and pump filter cleaned

Should also point out that this car is early enough to have looms in place for such things as cruise control, making them simple plug and play.

Any questions: feel free to ask.

Thank you. Would rather it went to a good home relatively cheaply than sat on my drive waiting for a huge profit.

Currently?
Project Spa is the black one with 108s.
Just past that you can make out my good lady's Sterling Grey 2.5i auto.
In the garage is my VO E89

And managing to avoid every shot was my daily black 2.2i (Just as well as it's still in serious need of a clean!)

Need to shift something as there's the twin for this one I'm selling (only manual and lower mileage) on it's way here in a couple of weeks.

Yes, Vall lived in a house called 'Thistledo' when I met her, so when she moved in with me I named our house 'Thistledotoo'.

Hey there! Lovely car! I'm genuinely curious about something - are there usually any issues with automatic transmissions, especially over 100k?
And why do some folks prefer manuals?
Thanks for sharing your insights!
