Does anyone know if there is a diy fix for the amber brake warning light problem?
It seems to be a common problem when the battery gets low and the ecu needs and update. I've recently had to change my battery due to low voltage and strange electrical anomalies.
I'd rather do it myself if possible rather than pay the £200 or so to BMW.

Thanks for the link.
It has been fine for weeks and not come on at all so I thought it might sneak through the mot. Afraid not :(
The local bmw dealer wants £120 to update the software but also want a further £120 for a diagnostic check. They won't do the update without the diagnostic even though I only want the software update.

If you are any good with a laptop the software is available to download for free although i bought mine from eBay as a package with the cable.

Do you have any links?
I've looked at a few cables but they all seem to come from China.

A quick search brought this up although it has both leads in, one for the e series and one for later models.

Great, thank you.
Fortunately I managed to get it through it's re test today and it didn't come on. Gives me a year without having to worry too much as the handbrake works perfectly.
If it come in again I'll look at updating it myself.
