Kidney grille options at new

My deep sea blue has the chrome/chrome grilles.
I might like to go all black or maybe chrome surround and black fins.
I don't want to put something on the car that wasn't available as a choice at the time though.
Anyone know what options if any there were?

My car has gloss black grills. They are a genuine BMW part (I have an invoice for them somewhere) but not too sure if they were an option from the factory.
BMW E89 3.5i M Sport manual, loving it….
Audi S5 Cab, Great car but not special enough….
BMW E89 3.5i DCT, Havana Brown, should never have sold it…..
BMW E85 3.0 Auto, sadly missed (twice)

The chrome / chrome I believe was standard fayre on the top specified Z4, the 30i and 30is I believe (it could have been just the is) to define them from us lesser owners. All other models had chrome / black. Some on here have replaced with black / black which can be easily sourced.

And if I’m wrong, I’ll be sure to be corrected v quickly!

I've read that the 35is had a (I think) Matt chrome grille to distinguish it.

there you go, I knew someone smarter would put things straight… that’s what I meant - I think - the 35iS not 30. Too many numbers! I just turn the key (or push the button) and ‘brmmmm’

I wondered which versions used them as OE?
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

I had black & silver on my 35i - really old fashioned look.
Swappped them out for these, get a LOT of positive comments on them...

Not a fan of the G29 copies plus the OP asked about OE grills
Spending time with a 35i, previous convictions: Fiat 20V Turbo Coupe, TVR Chimera, Jaguar XKR, Porsche 997 C4S

Those g29 grilles look very nice - transformative to the look of the car.

It's annoying that I can't find the original (time of sale) grille options (assuming there were options) despite many googles.

I've found a few images via Google of the 35i variant with chrome/black and black/black but of course no idea if they were options from new.
