Calling all Ians.

Back in the 1960s when I first started teaching in a small mining village in Co Durham I had a child in my form called Wilhelmina Clutterbuck and the single parent mum was called Loveday Soulsby. Over the years working in schools I have come across a range of interesting names and spellings of names. There were also certain names which seemed somehow attached to badly behaved youngsters. Then, of course the celebrity cult brought the Kylies and the like. Some times parents don’t seem to realise the mill stone they are hanging round a child’s neck. The famous one that comes to mind is Zowie Bowie.

I did know girls called Wendy Sunshine and Lucy Lastick!
I also knew a Richard Head (everyone called him Dick obvs).
I also knew a Maureen Ning (her father was Korean). Everyone called her Mo

No it makes three, but two were spelt wrong! It's Gaelic for John as my Dad was a Scot named John and North of the border they spell it correctly like he did.

When I was working for an American domiciled company I had a US colleague called Rich Pratt!

Two boys in my school were both called Robert Evans and lived near each other, so went through all junior and senior schools together.

They were known as Rob Evans 1 and Rob Evans 2 all the way through.
