That takes me back - my Mum had a Grundig Party Boy in the 70s. Probably because it was cheaper and they didn't do an MOR Boy!

She was never a party person.
Coupes because stunning!
Current - Silver Grey MC, Imola Red heated Nappa & carbon trim. Aeros, H & R Coil-overs, 224s, OE Strut brace, Nav, cup-holders, DSP Hi-Fi, pdc, cruise, MFSW, no CDV! E90 330i daily
Gone - Montego Blue
Gone - Ruby Black

Hearing tends to deteriorate with age - sharpness and clarity without the interference of hiss etc has to be a bonus in my book.
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

Party Boy sounds a bit iffy too now. :o

But the 70s was a different era - thankfully!

No good though if you're listening era is the 60s, good to listen to the music how it was recorded at the time

Tim.
Except there was no one playing the lead ‘hiss’ or the double ‘crackle’ was there?
 it was there it just gets filtered out in the digital process :?

Tim.
I’m guessing/hoping this is a joke? :?

I also note you’re talking about getting an old CD player running to be able to make recordings of a digital music source… So much effort for inferior sound… are you also buying rechargeable batteries and a charger? Or have you forgotten how quickly batteries go flat in a Walkman? :|

I’m afraid I’m happy to have a 32Gb USB plugged in and be able to listen to a music collection!

Lithium gumstick battery on the Walkman, seems to be lasting just fine, the 80s wasn't that long ago

As said think you're missing the point, it's revisiting something I enjoyed when I was a lad, the pure sonic clarity compared to say a modern DAC player is inferior as you would expect but then playing vinyl you could say exactly the same yet people prefer that format. Having said that I would still prefer an old cassette Walkman, much cooler :)

To show a bit of solidarity I popped into the loft to show you a few of my tapes. It's not all about sound quality, nostalgia is a wonderful thing. And I always remember the sense of pride in using a metal tape

Funnily enough I've never owned a stacking system. Always lusted after an Aiwa or Technics in my youth after suffering a childhood Saisho

Metal cassettes - twice the price compared to “chromium” or three times “Ferro” ones, so a real luxury
