Roof Relay Replacement

Post by AnubisZed » Thu Jan 11, 2024 3:10 pm

Hi everyone, just thought I'd post this up as it may help some of you...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHalqsWfFbU

Disclaimer** Please be careful using metal tools in the vicinity of the battery terminals, use insulated tools or cover the battery.

I'm sure some will complain that I should either mention or show that you should disconnect the battery, but I can safely say that it's not a requirement to do that because....
1) You can't short that circuit with the relay as it'll only go in one way.
2) You've got the boot open so the module will recognise this and won't be able to commence any roof operation.

But at the end of the day, you can disconnect the battery if you so wish, but you don't need to.

You don't need to remove the bracket, you can release it via the black clip, but it may be easier to remove the screw, but that's your choice.

Either way I hope it helps someone

Roof Relay Replacement

Worth noting for anyone doing this - the part you get when ordering through AutoDOC is the wrong relay, two of the pins are in the wrong places / the amperage on two of the pins needs to be swapped round.

Someone more savvy than me could probably amend the pins in the relay but I have instead bought another two from the eBay dealer...!

Look forward to any further preventative maintenance stuff

There are several variations of this relay, some have identical pins but different internals..

I’d suggest you shouldn’t try and make the incorrect version fit..

Is the official description….

Knock of copies exist so I’d source the parts from a verifiable source..

We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

So I had to learn, what others may do when I write "turn left" without a warning "NOT to turn right".
