Yep, I'm only saying what BMW are charging me. I mean if we really want to get into it, here's what I've spent so far. All prices listed in euros
150 - New Battery
180 - Locksmith to get into the car
160 - Top of the range jump pack
280 - Recovery from hotel car park to BMW (10 min journey)
460 - Car hire
130 - Wheel clamp removal (although to be fair the Z4 would have gotten the same treatment from the lovely guys at Lisbon Council)
I'm not gonna count the cost of the extra nights in the hotel in Rouen trying to sort it as I would have spent the same getting to Madrid if the car had been ok.
Blimey I'm not as chipper as I was when I started to write this reply

2000 Euros is my estimate because I am a bit suspicious of BMW. And it that was my car it would already be in the Autotrader!

don't forget the steering lock was also on so you'd have to be a bloody good aim, and you'd have to bring your mates, it was in an underground carpark remeberraymond.harper wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2023 10:52 pmI would have pushed it over the cliff but the handbrake sticking on would have been a problem!sgreen503 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2023 10:50 pmTrust me a can of petrol and a box of matches went through my mind in the darkest hours...raymond.harper wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2023 10:47 pm 2000 Euros is my estimate because I am a bit suspicious of BMW. The only cost I think was completely worth it was the recovery guy having to use exactly that, then having to negotiate the tow truck down a further 2 floors (I was one -1) to level -3, delicately manouvering round incredibly tight turns (2 per floor), inching the remote front 2 wheels of my car up a tad, down a tad, back a tad, forward a tad, reversing his tow truck back and forth here and there an inch or two. And then having to do it all over again as we made our way up to the exit. He did an incredible job. I gave him an extra 20 euros for a drink so he could add a vodka to the red bull. I'm going with 1500 euros, as you are British (I Presume) and we all know the frogs hate us as much as we hate them.
If you had ridden off on a dirty old pushbike with a string of onions around your neck, stinking of garlic and gayly smoking a Gitanes, they would have charged about 300.

All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

Ouch.
That was more painful than I thought, but I suppose it could have been worse.
And you've had an unforgettable trip!

Spaldingski, are you actually from Spalding? Because I'm from from Boston(ski).Pondrew wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2023 11:52 pm I'm going with 1500 euros, as you are British (I Presume) and we all know the frogs hate us as much as we hate them.

I live in Spalding, yes. But not 'from' here originally.
If you live in Boston(ova), I will have to give you a shout when my daughter goes on her driving lessons, as she is doing her test there. You REALLY don't want to be out on the roads when she is!
She will be in a white Seat with a 100 year old female instructor (and no I'm not joking).

Ah you must be one of the Polish contingent adding to Lincolnshire's diverse multi-cultural experiment haha! Well mate, I visit Boston(ova) regularly, in fact I'll be up on Monday for a week or so. And we live near the crematorium which is where ALL the instructor's take their driver's to practice. It's pretty hard to kill people when they're already dead, I think is the reasoning.Pondrew wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2023 12:18 amI live in Spalding, yes. But not 'from' here originally.

I'll be on the look out for a white Seat. Might park the Zed in the driveway and put mum's crappy Hyundai i10 on the road just to be safe though!

To put this into context, the instructor is actually 28. She just looks 100 after the trauma.
Abstinence is fine, in moderation.
