Parking fine

Post by Ole gits rule » Fri Oct 06, 2023 10:11 pm

SWMBO got a letter saying the same, she said she had registered her number at the bar, contacted the pub and all sorted.

If the place is close I would go and see what the signage is like as there are rules about an in all honesty its pretty crap as most decent pubs would tell you or have a warning at the bar.

I can guarantee the landlady is taking a cut - she will be out of business with those type of stunts

And the sad thing is, I remember that I regarded my local as a second home :headbang:

Firstly it is a parking charge that almost certainly you will get pursued for. However the pub have a responsibility to sort it for you and if they won't then this should be widely publicised locally on facebook, the local press etc. What pub in these difficult times want to get people refusing to come to them.........?

Agree

Publicise as much as you can on social media and theaten to go to the local press, then go tell the owners what you have done. Agree to take it down if they rescind the charge.

After much Facebook messaging and a personal appearance by the wife and I at the pub (again) today, the pub has now issued an apology on Facebook to all patrons inconvenienced by this.

They are endeavouring to get all fines quashed, yeah! result!

Wonder if they have to pay the scammers as they have lost money by the cancellation and did the effort of sending a letter

Great news.

Perhaps there is a business opportunity there to rent out STMBO to others in the same situation?

I have some sympathy with the pub landlord, they only took over the pub recently and so far are making a success of what was previously a flagging business. I’m all for traditional pubs.

They were plagued this summer by non-patrons parking there, sometimes for several days, to the extent that pub patrons could not find a parking space. He now recognises that the parking company they chose have been over zealous and is attempting to rectify this as ‘victims’ such as I and many others are swearing to never set foot there again. Fair play.

Then they should sack the private parking enforcement company and find a better way of policing their parking. I would imagine the pub was on a percentage of the 'fines'.

The right result, though, for you. Well done Mrs 'dr John'.

That’s exactly what they have done, sacked the parking company. The issue of a load of pending fines is still up in the air however :?

Just had an email from the parking company, my appeal is rejected but the fine is reduced from £60 to £20. I’m tempted to pay it and hope that the pub may recover it.
