Cleaning up second-hand parts

Post by paulc_bkk » Fri Aug 11, 2023 4:11 pm

This is my first post in this part of the forum as I’m looking for a bit of guidance…

You know when people buy second hand parts from breaker yards and they write on the part with those funny little market pens…?

Does anyone have any quick and easy tip for removing the writing from painted plastic parts in such a way that doesn’t damage the plastic or the original paint?

Any tips will be greatly appreciated

Try some alcohol on a microfiber cloth.

Thank you for the responses

I was probably overthinking it a bit but I didn’t want to take paint off the replacement part… ‘er indoors would’ve never let me live it down if I’d ruined it

Turned out some anti-Covid alcohol spray on a microfiber towel worked out, and she’s (almost) happy

Apologies for the non-Z4 content, but there’s an e85 next to it…
