Insurance hike ...

Insurances on both cars went up by 80 quid max so not complaining compared to some.

Adrian Flux said my premium had risen this year due to increased costs across the board, parts costs, repair and labour costs increasing and hire car costs going up oh and 20 year old knobs crashing M140is.

Tim.

WOW

Just had my renewal notification, and with the only change being an SP30 it has gone from £350 to £1150 :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

I think it might be cheaper to drive around uninsured, on fake plates, whilst high in drink & drugs, with a dismembered body in the boot and take the very small risk of being caught!

Both my G29 and my S1000r renewal quotes were crazy, bit of shopping around and both were sourced at a little more than last years premiums.

Initial research is not going well in my case...although one is suspiciously half the rest at around £580...but there must be something wrong with them if they're the only one (3-star Defacto).

Might have to go 'old-fashioned' and start calling around...but will have to weigh up the cost of the time spent vs the amount I'll save :P

Just renewed mine with the same company, its gone up by £10 and thats with a windscreen claim. Confulsed.com quotes came out at least £50 more. That's very unusual!

renewal due in Feb, not looking forward to this. Currently a multicar policy (fully comp plus wife named driver) was £517 for Kia Sportage and old E90, updated policy in October (removed E90 and added E89 35i) and got a £3 refund.

Second car renewal just come in (including a sneaky rise in the excess that wasn't made clear)...

Going to be a fun Christmas on the web/phone to all the shady car insurance companies. So far, the closest I have found is a telematics policy with Hastings YouDrive...but it'd probably be cancelled by them after a single trip :P

(or I maybe I should spend the time more constructively and just trawl the internet for identical vehicles to clone - after all it seems to work for all those scallies on the TV cop shows)

Z4 insurance due in February. Paid £700 for the current policy. Renewal quotes are all over £2,000.

Hopefully I can find a more realistic quote in the next few weeks.

I found if you can reduce your mileage or take business out it does reduce a little

Only if you don’t need those.

…as does reducing cover to 3rd party only, or removing legal expenses / courtesy car / windscreen cover / breakdown cover (assuming you have any of those, and they’re cost options), or increasing excess to £5k (just increased excess to £1000 and it only knocked £20 off the premium)

At some point there’s nothing left to trim…if you want to remain legal, and have some chance of getting paid when you need to claim.

…anyway…

I found that adding business use actually reduced my premium!

There is no logic, adding my wife to some of the cars reduced it whilst on the others it increased it again.

I think sometimes it helps to put an older relative on it.
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.
