E89 n20 code p0015
Hey Zeds owner, I have a faulty code p0015 on my n20, If anything I may have bad mpg. I'm at 25 mpg. No other issue, wondering what do I need to replace to get this fix. Thanks in advance Zeds owners.

Few possible maintenence causes (oil - plugs) - but most likely is a failed camshaft position sensor.
A thorough investigation & diagnostic could reveal vanos or timing chain issues, but won't know without looking at it.

I hope it's just the camshaft position sensor.

Sadly an internet diagnosis will only get you so far with this one - the code is saying that the timing in one bank is more retarded than it should be.
Exactly why that is could be a bunch of things that need to be checked.
Internet searching which has kindly been done on your behalf has shown that a likely culprit is indeed that camshaft position sensor, but it could be other much worse things!
Good luck.

Thanks for the help. Im going to swap sensor. Praying it is just a camshaft position sensor. Nothing seriousmatsmith749 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 2:16 pm Sadly an internet diagnosis will only get you so far with this one - the code is saying that the timing in one bank is more retarded than it should be.

That code also came up on pre 2015 N20 powered cars with timing chain stretch due to the defective earlier cam chain and guides
In which case a good idea to get it quickly looked at as a jumped timing chain is a possible result!

When I replace my valve cover and gasket I checked the time chain. It has really good tension on. Hopefully it's just the camshaft position sensor.Ed.Straker wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 9:09 pm That code also came up on pre 2015 N20 powered cars with timing chain stretch due to the defective earlier cam chain and guides

Updates. Guess the timing chain was looser than I thought. Had it replace and now no more check engine light.
